Hi all,

Just realised that my ASD son who has severe pica has bent and

swallowed at least 2 metal beer tops. I don't know what they are made

of Aluminium??? but i had just started his DMSA/ALA round Cutler

protocol He has had his first 2 doses. I think they will probably pass

through whole into his stool over the next day or two. I am not sure

if I should continue the round in case metals are pulled and possibly

taken into the brain or other organs? He is due again in 2 hours for

his next dose. What should I do?

Hi - I don't know about chelating with those inside;

I'd probably hold off.

However, if this were my child, I would call the

pediatrician and ask for a referral to a specialist.

Then I'd take him to a doctor for an xray so I could

see how many are in there. Metal beer tops have

jagged edges and may cause some tearing of the insides

and cause internal damages. You will want to monitor

these coming out.

(I had a dog who did this once, and we did an xray and

monitoring on the pet - so I'd do no less for a child)

This could be very serious; metal bottle tops are very dangerous;

I would call your doctor immedialtey; qeus; did he eveer swallow

these previously? if so what happened? chekc his stools; " urgent...A--

(I would follow the advice of the previous reply written below(X-ray).
