Yearly flu shots for kids may be on horizon

San Francisco Chronicle - CA, USA

" Currently, childhood influenza vaccination is recommended only for

those 6 months to 5 years old - the group thought to be most

vulnerable to flu complications. A proposal before the advisory

committee would expand that age group to include children up to 18

years old - virtually every schoolkid in America.

Driving the decision is a growing body of studies suggesting that

control of influenza among children is key to controlling it

throughout the population. "
