So he may be too acid. -- Michele talithamichele@... http://www.atraceofme.com If the base leaves, everybody loses: http://www.solanorail.org

I wonder if the diet has changed the amount of salt he gets in food. --
Guest guest
If he is craving salt, I would think about adding ACE(Adrenal Cortex Extract) it could be that the chelation is wearing on him a bit. As to the soda, I would wonder about kidney issues, is he getting enough water, is the urine colored and possibly add some asparagas extract pills in....also does he have an oxalate issue....could be low on Vit K2..but you have to be careful with this one. I would get some PH strips from the drugstore, and test it several times, if he is too alkaline...then you could start offering him some more alkaline foods. on Vit K2 forum is the whiz on ph and k2, if alkalinity isn't the issue. Sorry, just went thru this not long ago. Ronni > > We chelating our 3 yo son with DMSA and going BED and he is craving > salt and baking soda. Guest guest
I sooo agree - if it were me, I would let him have salt, and just monitor it overall... After many (15-ish) years of having a low-salt household, we incorporated sea salt into our house a few months ago, with very noticeable improvements in all...we did experiment with regular salts and definitely do prefer the sea salt here. I recently started using sea salt (kinda leery for myself, as have had extreme arthritis episodes in the past) and cannot even convey how much better I have felt since. I only decided to try it, after finding that salt itself helped people with " orthostatic intolerance. " Which I was totally relating to, while reading it - was a 2-3 ish mos ago. In the meantime, forgot that was why I " made that rule. " (big sigh w/a lol) and since was reminded of it recently, I remember it - for this moment anyway! (big sigh) Anyway..lost and still losing " edema " stuff - this is the most dramatic & noticeable thing to happen for me...and the latest surreal thing was that in just the past couple weeks, my joints have gotten " loose. " Very weird feeling,(in a rather cool sort of way) as I have never been flexible at all, Have always looked like I " should " be flexible, but am sooo not...lol, make that wasn't!! - and my joints are just moving all over...hampered by the water weight is what I am leaning towards & also am thinking I need to build some " joint strength " too...My second thought being that these joints all have been " supported " in a sense for a very long time & could use some strength building. surreal, very very surreal.... My 3yo refuses eggs these days, if they are not made with coconut oil & sea salt...and also refuses eggs if they are not made with Only these two things to boot...I consider her an excellent " food barometer. " So only make eggs this way these days...I am finding that there Alot of these types of things going on with all my kids and the salt connections... so, short thought...salt is waaayy underrated & good salt is even better... Also, my 3yo slams the baking soda, in spurts, while brushing teeth...mostly, I monitor at these moments to make sure she doesn't take in " too much " at one given time...hover over her saying " spit the taste out, " and such. But, overall, don't worry too much..figure she is needing it for some relatively un-apparent to me reason - she does seem to do this more during the times when her urine is smelling waayyy ammonia-ey... fwiw wishing you the best answers elizabeth > > > > We chelating our 3 yo son with DMSA and going BED and he is craving > > salt and baking soda. Guest guest
Salt craving can be a sign of adrenal fatique. I'd second the recommendation for adrenal support. Guest guest
For those saying " let him have salt " , let me suggest getting sea salt as a superior form of salt. It has a different mineral mix and seems to " stick " better/satisfy that craving better. And it's healthier. Sea salt appears to be good adrenal support for us in this family. We also take other things for adrenal support but I think good, healthy salt is a basic human need. We took quite a lot of it for a few months and when we got healthier, our need for it went down. Just my 2 cents worth/ my experience. -- Michele talithamichele@... http://www.atraceofme.com If the base leaves, everybody loses: http://www.solanorail.org
Guest guest
I craved salt all of my life. Last year, my Chiropractor did an iodine test on me, and my skin sucked it all up within hours! I am now taking an iodine supplement (Standard Process Inc@) and my need for salt is now what I consider normal. I also had adrenal fatique (found out through a Meridia Stress Test) and am taking Adrenal Support (same brand). The right supplements for ones individual needs makes all the difference in the world! BTW, you can do your own iodine test by painting a patch of iodine on your stomach. If it is still there by morning, you are fine. If it disappears, you are low. I also heard that it is not that unusual for our ASD kids to crave salt. My grandson does...and my dd just lets him have more salt on the things he likes less. Still hasn't worked on veggies!!!! Don't know about the Baking Soda.... -Trish > > We chelating our 3 yo son with DMSA and going BED and he is craving > salt and baking soda.
