Guest guest
Okay, here's what I've picked up from years of hanging around these lists. Tired is normal the day or two after. Black rings usually signals some kind of processing problem--allergies or the need for liver support. Are you giving Milk Thistle? Red ears is usually phenol reactions--again allergies. Do you watch phenols in his food? Dilated pupils can happen when mercury is moving. Stimming and scripting and OCD--Yeast! You could also be stirring up viruses. SO . . . I would say, lower your dose and up your support. Is he getting good levels of minerals? Especially zinc? Barb [ ] DMSA side effects? - Long Hi, Wondering if I can post side effects of my 9 year old during chelation and get feedback on where to go? We started in February this year. He's getting oral DMSA (25mg) every 4 hours. I started with a tiny dose in February, and have worked up to the 25mg. After every round (even with the small dose) he shows the following symptoms: Seems excessively tired Huge black rings around his eyes red ears pupils which are normally dilated even more so Stimming and scripting and OCD behaviours much worse After a couple of days he seems to get back on track, but not back to his normal self, I've definitely not seen any gains. I'm just about to star VSL 3 to see if we can eradicate any yeast issues, as my normal yeast protocol doesn't seem to be working. His tongue is very coated and often has the red ring around his anus. Also, just wondering if anybody can shed some light on this, as we've never gotten to the bottom of this. Since he was very young, say around 2.5 years he has had yellow tinged sallow skin. When it's at its worst, he looks really poorly. He browns really easily if he doesn't wear sunscreen (both me and his Dad are fair skinned and burn easily). Liver tests have come back OK, and carotene not an issue (which is what all doctors have fobbed me off with!). Andy, I've looked through and seen only one post similar to this - and this was from somebody who saw a recent change in her child's complexion, any ideas would be appreciated. This is my first post, and sorry so long, but I've been hanging around here for a year now, and in February finally stated chelation, now all these things are going on I'm scared, and want to make sure I'm doing everything OK. Somebody who's been chelating for years has suggested adding in ALA to the protocol which worked well with her son. Do you think I should carry on with DMSA? Maybe add in ALA, or try ALA on it's own to see if there is any change. I haven't had Callum tested for 3 years, but hair analysis and UTM showed very high levels of mercury and lead and arsenic, and I couldn't see the point in doing again, as it was obviously in there and needed to come out. Any comments most welcome. Elaine

What are the stims? Because of the scripting, try increasing your yeast protocol first. > Also, just wondering if anybody can shed some light on this, as we've > never gotten to the bottom of this. This can mean improper carotene conversion, which is a problem my son had until the end of ALA chelation plus the addition of certain supplements. Which supps are you giving now? You might want to remove orange and green foods, and some reds and yellows, see if the problem reduces. >>carotene not an issue Exactly what do you mean by this? Does his body convert carotenes? Guest guest
Thanks , He weighs 64 11bs, his diet is very carb based. No glutathione in the brainchild vits and no amalgam fillings. I think a lot of his exposure to HM was when I was pregnant and had extensive dental work on amalgams, and we also had our old house redecorated just before he was born (if only I knew then, what I know now:-() DMSA is just given with water every 4 hours day and night. As far as I know, no exposure to HM at present. His diet is very limited - especially to carbs. I try and limit this as much as possible, and have been toying with SCD for sometime, but wanted to chelate soon as I had waited so long. From what I have been reading on here it looks like he may well have problems with viruses too. Elaine On 4 Jun 2008, at 16:33, Shepard Salzer wrote: > > Hi Elaine, > Welcome to the list. I did some search on list though, and found this: http://onibasu.com/archives/am/44223.html http://onibasu.com/archives/am/81940.html Also: http://onibasu.com/archives/am/44223.html http://onibasu.com/archives/am/56426.html So it looks like this is not unusual, could be mercury, and could be other things in addition. Mercury is likely part of it, since it gets worse on round and rounds do provoke symptoms. Have you done an elimination diet on him? Do you use probiotics? Other than the yeast, how is his gut? I know glutamine is used for a permeable gut; but that's just off the cuff, I'm sure there are other things. >Stimming and scripting and OCD behaviours much worse I know Andy suggests Inositol, grams of it, for OCD. Ok, that does sound like yeast, and if it's getting worse on round then the effects could go on for more than the 24 hours that is generally acceptable for the post-round effects of chelation. Have you tried a sulfur exclusion diet yet, to work out his sulfur status? (Search on onibasu.com for " sulfur exclusion diet " ) >Also, just wondering if anybody can shed some light on this, as we've never gotten to the bottom of this. Ok, it would be generally good to see the hair test, but if there is high lead, you definitely need DMSA. You will only need it for a total of 3 days per month, though, so if this turns out to be hard on him (and DMSA is for me, it makes me very tired), then you would not have to do much of it. I would suggest using ALA and seeing what the effect is. See if it's better/different from DMSA. I would also suggest trying the sulfur exclusion diet that I mentioned. If he is high sulfur and you need to go on a sulfur restricted diet, then that would not only improve symptoms, but it would also improve yeast. You could also see about DMPS, since that shouldn't make the yeast issue worse. Of course, you know it's Rx, so that's a bit of a pain. >Any comments most welcome. >Elaine
Guest guest
I would think that the tiredness and the black circles are from detox. You may want to lower dose and make sure you are mineralizing enough. The red ears is definitely a sign of phenol sensitivity. I'm not sure abotu the pupils, but I woul see if that improves as you add in more minerals and reduce dose. OR, I would imagine you could try staying at this dose, but moving to a 3/11 vs a 3/4 dosing schedule. Guest guest
Cheers Dave for this. I'll check out the links- I also need to have a really good look through all the files I think. Weird thing is that today and yesterday he's the best I'v seen him - the healthiest since he was a toddler - I've increased minerals and added in a bit more magnesium. I'm going to give week off as suggested - lower dose, - the measle like rash frightened me - but now gone - and he looks fantastic! Long may it continue.....
