LDN and Pregnancy

I have been on LDN for a couple years now and have been doing great.

My husband and I are now considering having a child. Has anyone

stayed on LDN while trying to get pregnant or is there any specific

information out there about the subject? I have researched it myself

and it looks like the risks are minimal but my doctor doesn't agree.

He sees the Category C label, which is for 50 mg, and gets scared. He

has implied that he will not continue with my prescriptions if I am

trying to get pregnant. I would like to take him some specific info

on LDN but so far I haven't found anything. Thanks for your help.

this is another message that came today

Hi All! I just noticed this recent addition to the LDN website

(www.low dose naltrexone.org). Phile Boyle writes his response to the

questions " Can LDN be taken during pregnancy? How about while breast

feeding? " .....

Dr. Phil Boyle, a specialist in fertility care in Galway, reported

the following in 2008:

I am confident that LDN is perfectly safe in pregnancy and in

certain cases will actually reduce the risk of miscarriage.

W. Hilgers, M.D, of the US, who developed the fertility treatment I

provide, has used high dose naltrexone...up to 100mg throughout

pregnancy and during breastfeeding safely without ill effect to

mother or baby since 1985. I have been prescribing LDN regularly

during pregnancy [for several years] and the results have been

excellent. Clinical experience has proven to me that it is safe.

I just wanted to bring that to the attention of anyone who is

contemplating taking LDN in either or both of these situations.
