Hi my 4.3 year old has also had a runny nose since 2 years of age, can

you please tell me what OLE is? I would like to give it a try if suitable.

Thanks Heidi

[ ] possible viral issues--questions on adding lysine

I have a 4.5 yo NT son who has had a runny nose ever since his third

birthday. I did an elimination diet to rule out food allergies and

while I did see some improvement with casein and gluten taken out of

his diet he never got rid of the snot, and his bowel movements got

really soft and oily without the casein and gluten. I also noticed

that he had less snot when he was taking a protease enzyme. So based

on what I was reading on this list, I started thinking he might have a

viral issue that the enzyme was addressing.

So I started him on OLE and the snot went away! Even when I

reintroduced gluten and casein! Not only that but his corn intolerance

(dry cough) went away, too.. So great. His bowel movements went back to

normal, too, as soon as I reintroduced the casein and gluten. He did

get some bumps on is cheeks, like a slight rash, that haven't gone

away. But as soon as I stopped the OLE (he was getting cranky and OCD

after about 2 weeks and I thought maybe he didn't need the OLE

anymore) the snot came back.

So I put him back on the OLE (500 mg three times a day) and I did some

reading and I thought maybe the OLE was causing yeast and that was

where the crankiness was coming from (a previous trial of Threelac to

see if he had candida in his nose did decrease the snot quite a bit)

so I added 1/2 cap of GSE daily a few days ago and the crankiness has

improved but not gone away. He hasn't experienced any die-off symptoms

the way he did with the Threelac (headaches, frequent peeing).

I am thinking now that I should add some other antivirals to see if

that improves him any. He takes Vit C daily already (about 5 g a day

without any diarreah). I have L-Lysine that I want to introduce.

So my questions are:

1. Does it makes sense that we are having viral issues?

2. Is 250 mg Lysine a sensible next thing to try?

3. If so, what is a sensible way to space out the OLE, GSE, Lysine,

and probiotics? I want to give the Lysine early in the day so I can

watch him for reactions carefully, but then can I just give him the

OLE in one 1500 mg dose in the middle of the day, along with the GSE?

And the probiotic at night?

4. Are there any side effects I need to look out for?

Thanks,

Try adding some biotin, with magnesium for proper absorption if required.

My kids never had die off symptoms, they just improved.

Be sure to give the lysine at least 2 hours apart from the OLE.

Lysine will inactivate OLE if given at the same time.

OLE addresses both viruses and bacteria [including strep]. So it can

be either, or both.

> 2. Is 250 mg Lysine a sensible next thing to try?

That would be a good starting dose.

Give probiotics at least 2 hours apart from OLE and GSE.

Give lysine at least 2 hours apart from OLE.

It is best to space out the OLE, several times per day.

> 4. Are there any side effects I need to look out for?

Lysine pulls out herpes viruses. This means my kids broke out in

various rashes [one of which looked somewhat like shingles] and mouth

sores, and it did cause a tremendous increase in warts, especially

plantar warts, until the virus was gone.

When my son no longer needed lysine, giving more made him mean and

aggressive, so watch for that.

The amount of yeast caused by herpes die off was incredible. I had to

give a LOT of biotin and GSE to control it.

Dana,

I am so excited! After reading much of your information, I have decided to

start a viral protocol this summer with my boys. Which should I start with -

virastop or OLE? How soon should I add in the other? Where can I find more

info?

Thanks, Dana

sharing there colds with me! I do think the OLE helps me fight off the colds, I

think I will tyr it on my kids too. Thanks again Heidi

You can start with either, altho I do know several families who had a

boatload of yeast with VS but not so much if they started with OLE.

Whenever you feel comfortable, and especially make sure you have a

good yeast protocol.

Depends on what info you want.

I don't really know. I just know that my son was MAJOR nasty when I

gave him his prior dose of lysine and it was too much for him. So I

reduced the dose. Within a week or so, he no longer needed the lysine.

Does your son typically become mean and nasty if he has yeast in his

brain?

If you wait a month and give him a low dose, like 100mg, is he okay

with that? That seems to be my son's pattern, at least for now. I

give him a small sprinkle of lysine about once per week, and that is

working okay for now.

Hi Dana just reading a over some of your posts again before I intro

lysine

He is getting biotin twice a day 8000ug (.15mg)at mo is that LOTs or

do I need to increase

Re: GSE. Cian gets his probiotic/zinc/1 oxypowder in morning

After breakfast - the rest of his supps.

How do I give GSE? - When and with what+How many drops and how often. I

never see a reaction when I give two drops in morning away from

everything before everything else and was wondering if I am doing it

right.

Also how long can you do GSE - Do you only do it when you see yeast

behaviours or is there a maintainance dose.I want to get this right

before I intro lysine.

Thanks

Aileen

PS The products I have are I have citradel (spelt wrong) in drops.

I also have Biocare GSE.

Does ug mean mcg? If so, 8000ug/mcg would mean 8mg.

I had to give my son 20mg 3x per day biotin, and during the nasty part

of the protocol, also had to add GSE on top of the biotin.

Biotin requires magnesium for proper absorption, so you might need to

add magnesium for full effect.

Give GSE at least 2 hours apart from probiotics.

Start with one drop in the morning.

If that appears to work for now, then you can keep that dose and schedule.

I used GSE almost daily for 4 years, during chelation and anti-virals,

and during a few other supplement protocols that tended to increase

yeast. It is not good for maintenance unless you are doing protocols

that tend to increase yeast. Best to do biotin for maintenance, if it

is sufficient to keep the yeast under control. Giving GSE when there

is no yeast, will tend to cause a bad bacteria problem.

Don't know. I am using thorne - each cap has 8000ug so would that is

3xday ( on 2 at mo so could increase)

also had to add GSE on top of the biotin.

Any particular type ?- Cian is on 4 cap (750mg-1000mg I think)

magEAP2 but someone suggested another type which I would to look at

again.

Now I am confused...as the symptoms that Cian has could be yeast,

could be metals, could also be bad bacteria. Do I need to do tests?

for each? Well ..I have done tests and he had all three. How do I

know what is what.

The lack of sleep and giggling is gone two years now - I put that

down to yeast.

Verbal stimming- sometimes just on certain toys - is that OCD? which

would be caused by bacteria

Flapping a little - not at mo

Think he is constipated again...yeast? metals? bacteria

Rubbing - yeast?

So now I afraid to do GSE

I really find it hard to decide what is causing what? some behaviours

out of the blue when we have not changed protocol etc.

He is very calm at mo which I am putting down to intro Adrenal Cortex

but still a bit verbal stimmy on certain toys and rubbing.

Thanks for your patience! Think I will change my ident. to Clueless!

I believe the Thorne product is the equivalent of 8mg. So you can

increase it [slowly] and see if that helps any.

I have used citrate and oxide. Citrate appears to absorb better,

because I was able to give more citrate before diarrhea.

Depends. If you see absolutely nothing, you are probably giving just

enough to maintain the status quo. If the status quo includes a yeast

overgrowth, then you can try increasing a little.

If he has both yeast and bad bacteria, try oil of oregano, that works

on both. Or olive leaf extract plus GSE, which I had to do because my

son did not tolerate oregano.

Depends. Usually yeast.

> Verbal stimming- sometimes just on certain toys - is that OCD? which

Depends on what type of verbal stimming. My son had two types, and

they required different interventions to eliminate them.

> Flapping a little - not at mo

For my son, this was eliminated with anti-virals, certain B vitamins,

and yeast control.

> Think he is constipated again...yeast? metals? bacteria

Commonly yeast or magnesium deficiency. There are other possibilities

also

http://www.danasview.net/constip.htm

> Rubbing - yeast?

If you mean rubbing his genitals, that was almost always yeast here.
