This is a really good question to ask.

My son is nearly recovered thanks to ALA per Andy's protocol. I've used DMSA

some of the

time, and some other interventions (enzymes, diet, and antivirals) were

important too. But

ALA has been critical. For a long time he was much better on round. No side

effects except

for one time when I increased the dosage too quickly and he had some meltdowns,

but that

resolved quickly at a lower dose.

ALA was one of the FIRST steps my son required for recovery. He

needed a LOT of supplements also.

The only negatives I experienced, were yeast overgrowth, and

demineralization for myself [my kids were mineral toxic, so this part

was good for them].

Dani-

I have used ALA for my son as well as myself. We have been chelating

about 1 year now. I interpret " negative results " as regression. No,

we have not seen any regression. We have seen slow and steady

improvements.

I did about seven rounds of ALA on my son. This was about five years ago. He

showed some improvements after the first few rounds. I had to stop using it

after the seventh round because he became, for the first time in his life, very

obsessive. The obsessions did go away after a few months, but it was so scary

I was afraid to try ALA again. This was using Andy's protocol.

Having said that, my son is now 10 and still toxic. I have gotten pretty good

over the years at manipulating diet and supplements so at most times, my son,

who is very high functioning, often doesn't seem autistic. Sometimes,

however, he obviously is, and he's lost many friends lately as the older kids

are,

the more they notice oddities.

Since my son reacted poorly to DMSA, TTFD, DMPS also, I've been piddling

around with things like clay baths, detox foot pads, foot baths, saunas. But I

may

actually try a few more rounds of ALA and space them very, very widely apart.

Hi Dani!

I don't blame you for being cautious. I know that for me it was very

hard to start chelating with my kiddos because of all the damage that

they already had. It is scarey. My sons both have liver issues, and

my daughter is very fragile. So I really do understand.

We started out low and slow, I give lots of milk thistle, dandylion

and artichoke. Those help the liver too. ALA, altho a chelator,

supports the liver, instead of the possiblity of damage. The only

concern about using ALA is if the copper level is high. And then you

need to give zinc and molybdenum to bring the copper down. Start out

low....like 1/8 of a mg per pound or less. Get a good yeast protocol

in place ahead of time...and plan for what you can do if it gets

bad. GSE, oregano and most RX drugs are very hard on the liver. We

have a high dose protocol of biotin in place, we use candex and pros

a lot and we are also using epicor. Getting the microphages growing

(the epicor and biotin)makes is easier but you will still need candex

or candidase to remove it. We scheduled 4 doses of candex and 4 of

pros(for my kids who could tolerate them...a couple couldn't)and that

takes some planning on the meals part. not much room for snacking..so

you really need a game plan. It isn't hard...once you figure out how

to do it....it's not bad..it is just like many things, getting

started.

Hope this helps.

Hi Debbie,

Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry to hear that your son's system is still dealing

with toxins.

This is the hardest and most frustrating thing, trying to fix something you

can't see and

wanting to so badly help your child feel their best. Probably like every other

parent in this

situation, I'd carry the burden 3 times over if my son could be free.

I just have a couple more questions if you don't mind.

Did your son tolerate supplements before chelation? Do you feel that yeast was a

problem

before chelation and did you try a yeast protocol? Were any food " allergies "

relieved for

your son after chelation? What were the improvements?

My son's body seems more sensitive then most other kids on the spectrum and when

he is

affected negatively, obsession is always the first tip off. It's hard to tell if

it's a healing

regression or not.

Thanks and I wish your son wonderful, full health!
