The transdermal LDN from Coastal Compounding bypasses the gut entirely so there will be no gut irritation from the medication passing through it. Guest guest
DANNY - the only thing i have to offer is that it makes good sense that the cream does not have to go into the area where we have ulcers, inflammation, pusiness, etc., etc.; to be mixed in with all that sludge & be "watered down" so to speak. the cream bypasses the gut!! it gets absorbed directly into our systems for assimilation!! marshiris@... crohn's disease - 17 years LDN - 1 YEARVote for your city's best dining and nightlife. Guest guest
I can only tell you that the transdermal creme gave my daughter results whereas the capsules did not. She took caps for almost 3 months without relief of any symptoms ... then tried the creme - and within a week, Thank G-D, had no more pain, had formed BMs, and felt and looked much better. Prior to usuing LDN she was in a flare for over 6 months! Besides LDN she also takes Sulfazine , digestive enzymes, and stays away from offending foods (specific to her) such as gluten, soy, yeast, and egg whites. The lab that I recc is called Enterolab, they specilize in digestive conditions - in order for you to find out what foods you must stay away from. In a message dated 6/12/2008 6:15:33 P.M. Guest guest
Hello , I believe potency and delivery is the same for either creme or capsules ...... However, if you have inflamed and ulcerated inteatines/colon it would be wise of your practitioner to prescribe the creme. My daughter started with the caps x 3 months without symptom relief ( pain, weight loss, diarrhea, etc) but when she changed to the creme she began to heal. Hope this helps, ette In a message dated 6/16/2008 4:00:41 P.M. Guest guest
I started out a couple of weeks ago with the transdermal cream at a dose of 3 mg. and did not find that it was providing symptom relief of my Crohn's. Some had said that the liquid made by dissolving a 50 mg. naltexone pill in distilled water would work more quickly. I tried that but at a dose of 3.5 mg. and then 4 mg. I believe the transdermal cream was easier on my intestines, but I needed to up the dose. So, I have returned to using the cream at a dose of 4 mg. and am beginning to notice improvements. It has not been dramatic, but I've been sick with a flare that has lasted more than 10 months so believe it will take time to heal. Intestinal gas, urgent diarrhea (especially during the nighttime hours), and weight loss are the symptoms which I pray will be relieved by the LDN. The 4 mg. dose has disturbed my sleep a bit, but all those nighttime bathroom visits have been disturbing my sleep for 10 months so that is nothing new. I've almost forgotten what it is to feel " normal " but believe the LDN is going to make me remember!! What are others paying for the 50 mg. naltrexone pills? I was charged $68.00 for 10 plus shipping. Is that a reasonable price? > > > > I have had anecdotal comments and recommendations from members in > > this group that a transdermal application of LDN would be > > preferential for somebody with Intestinal inflammation, but both my > > doctors pointed out that the studies that were published were with > > medication given orally. Guest guest
That is pretty high compared to what mine cost me. I got 5 on my script for nothing--zip. Still don't know why unless my Dr. and Druggist are watching me like I'm a Guinea Pig. Reckon??? Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, Never considered going back to the capsules .... she finds the creme so easy, keeps it on her night table! How are you, sorry I don't recall if you inquired about the cr. for yourself or someone else?? Hope that you, or they, are feeling better! Blessings, ette In a message dated 6/17/2008 10:49:03 A.M.
