Guest guest
I also belong to an on-line stage IV breast cancer support group and it is heartbreaking to read some of the notes of the women who look like they are primarily using main stream care. I absoloutly believe in alternative health, trying to not go the extremes, although am a firm beleiver in even just the basics as far as making the difference. There was recently a news story on Harvard University's research, singing the praises of early detection and how easy it was to treat. These women were furious. A lot of them had been detected early only to have it recur and saying the treatments were easy is again just arrogant. During the most aggressive part of my treatment, I was in the ER and a physician I had worked with for years and trusted was the on call doc. I was a bit panicked and fearful and there was comfort from him telling me that chemo was the best chance I had, well at least in that he believed it. I still can not say for sure about the chemo but would be willing to say it may have its place to an extent. I know that for my well being, just feeling better, other health ailmentsm alternative has worked wonders. Harvard in my book has already lost their credibility though as it was not all that long ago the sensational headlines on the newscasts stating vegetables do not have an effect on cancer. Looking at the actual study, the lead researcher herself said the data was flawed but she was required to report it, Im sure do to financial reasons. She said the vegetalbes were not fresh, often times canned and that the participants did not even regulary eat the minimum. It is like living in a communist country with the money dictating standard of care for the quality of patients lives. I will spare the rehetoric, although what will it take before the heart cries of young mothers will be heard, those who are agonizing over not being there for their children.
