Guest guest
Ginseng - A note of caution and Selenium - A good thing I have serious reservations about ginseng and am alarmed when I see it touted as a healthy supplement with the potential for RAPID ACCELERATION OF ABNORMAL CELLS. The stimulant does aggravate fibrocystic breasts and especially those women should avoid the energy drinks like sold at convience stores, even grocery stores now. I was trying to meet transcription deadlines and working late nights. seemed like a better alternative to coffee despite it causing pain in my breasts. While on the subject of fibrocystic breasts, my OB suggested staying of the caffeine and using vitamin E. The vitamin E worked very well until just prior to the diagnosis and I added selenium which works in conjunction with vit E and C and it did do wonders for the tenderness. I have since read countless reports of selenium which is a mineral and one of the major arsenals in anticarcinogenic supplements. In addition I have started taking a multi mineral supplement and do feel much better when I do so. The cancerous breast mass at the time of my diagnosis was 4 cm, rather large and further adding to a poor prognosis. It has been reported that breast tumors over the last several years are bigger than what they used to be. I finally found a lady doc on-line whose research directly attributed the increased size of malignant lesions to ginseng. I had benign fibrocystic breast disease which is known to be a high risk for turning malignant. A couple of years prior I had a mammogram, referral to a surgeon who said the were probably benign. She transferred her practice to another state and I was lost to follow up. At that same time, my primary care doc who since that time only treats nursing home patients now, told me that with having an anutoimmune disease, psoriasis, he could almost guarantee I did not have breast cancer. I did think it interesting that when the lesion was its largest my psoriasis had for the most part cleared. I would think it has something to do with the immune system, maybe being overwhelmed. There would appear to be a link in that I had also heard a news broadcast of a research study that showed an adverse association between caffeine and autoimmune disease, in particular rheumatoid arthritis.
