Hello Tina,

I would like to correct some errors in making black salve, at " Truthquest2 " ,

if I may.

Weil is very knowledgeable; but in this web page he has

copy-pasted information that has some serious flaws regarding the making

of escharotic black salve.

* The list of ingredients is incomplete; therefore that salve will not be as

effective as it should be.

* Flour is not required; in fact it can have a negative influence on the

final product, imo.

* The " cooking time " is given as 30 minutes -- this is incorrect

(it must be a longer period; and also requires curing), otherwise

the salve will be greenish in colour, instead of black. Also, the herbs

will not have " combined " completely.

* It is suggested that a stainless steel container may be used in making

black salve. Since zinc chloride reacts with metals, this is most unwise.

ONLY ceramic or heat-proof glassware containers should be used.

Below is a web page from " Alpha Omega Labs " , original makers of

" Cansema " black salve. It includes a list of all ingredients.

Please note that white flour (an ingredient listed in " Truthquest2 " )

is NOT included. The person who originally thought of adding

white flour did so to use it as a thickener, because the salve can be

very runny after " cooking " it in the making process.

I have been making and using escharotic black salves since 2003.

Anyone in Australia who would like to know more, please feel free

to write to me, off-forum.

Regards,

Gunar

Cansema & Escharotics

" ... The Cansema formula (ingredients, percentages, and manufacturing

methods) has evolved over time, largely to improve performance and

minimize pain management issues. The current ingredients are:

zinc chloride (Cl2Zn), NDGA (nordihydrogauaretic acid, from

Larrea mexicata), sanguinaria (Sanguinaria canadensis); galangal root

(Alpinia officinarium) or ginger root (Zingiber officinale); graviola leaf

(Annona muricata), bitter melon seed (Momordica charantia), and

glycerine (used as a humectant, to keep the product moist).

" It is worth noting that several web sites have taken the liberty of posting

unusual, even bizarre, guesses at what is in our formula (why would they

do that when we post it on our site?). One site (zetatalk.com) even states

it contains white flour, which isn't remotely true. If you want to know what

exists in any of our products, ask us. We'll tell you. ... "
