I am posting on behalf of a close friend who is quite ill.

Late last year, my friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is

currently undergoing chemotherapy. The side effects have been so

severe that she has been forced to leave her job - a job she had

just started and which therefore provides no disability benefits -

and her doctors tell her that she will be unable to work for the

next year. She needs desperately to raise money for basic living

expenses. Because she wishes to remain anonymous, and because she

is too ill to do so herself, she has asked me to research potential

sources of financial assistance.

I would appreciate any information, referrals, or suggestions you

might provide.

To assist you, I would like to mention a few facts about my friend

that might be relevant to or trigger ideas about sources of

assistance:

-She is a resident of New York City (Manhattan).

-She is Jewish.

-She is 43.

-She has medical insurance but no income.

-She is single, never married, and has no children.
