Guest guest
I have a very unusual situation. My son is 35 and I have supported him most of his adult life as he has had mental health problems (panic disorder, agoraphobia, specific phobia, etc. for which he was treated a long time ago but he refused further treatment many years ago) Over 2 years ago in the fall he noticed he was having severe problems with his bowels and pains that he attributed to a possible hernia, without telling me until a year later he decided he must have colon cancer, his lymph nodes are the size of grapefruits and he has other symptoms such as bouts of coughing (mets to lungs?) and brown spots on his skin. He barely leaves his bed, hasn't left the house in almost 2 years. His vision has deteriorated, he is in severe pain all the time and is drinking A LOT for the pain. I cannot get him to go to a doctor he just wants to make the best of it for as long as he is here and intimates that he will kill himself if I force the issue. I guess what I would like is to be able to tell him that since he is stil alive after all this time that this might be a strong indication that he was way off in his diagnosis. He is around 300# at 6' so maybe this indicates that he has something else besides cancer as I would think he would have lost a lot of weight if he were stage 4 for 2 years. There is a really good chance that he is diabetic as it runs in the family on both sides and with the drinking this could quite likely be the cause of many of his symptoms (he also did steroirds for weight lifting several months shortly before this problem developed). He has 2 sons and although he has been really miserable I hope they give him something to live for. I have tried a few alternatives but he only does them for a time and then quits, although he did do cesium for 90 days and would probably try it again but now I am in dire financial straits so it would be difficult to afford now. Can anyone give me something positive I can pass on to him, he doesn't trust my opinion on anything. Thanks,
