Guest guest
Hi Kim, the book is " The Thyroid Solution by Ridha Arem, MD " and he has several pages in the book regarding vitamins for hypos and hypers. I didn't know about 's website at the time either. I was diagnosed with Graves in June/1996. Had it for about a year prior to diagnosis. My OB-GYN tested me on a whim probably because of symptoms. My cousin, same age, also diagnosed with Graves. She was misdiagnosed for over two years! Guest guest
Hi Mona, Thanks for your kind thoughts. Yes, it's been 10 months of ATD freedom with blood levels well within normal range. I still get them checked every 3 - 4 weeks. I do take supplements but other than copper and additional calcium and vitamin D, they're basically the same ones I've been taking for 20+ years. How about you? Good luck with your labs tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you. Best Zoey newly diagnosed Hello everyone!I'm 23 and am told I am hyperthyroid. I went for the scan and uptake today. I may have to take the radioactive idodine soon. Just had a few questions. I am always hot, have heart palpitations, shaking, etc...but recently have also been experiencing mood swings. Has this happened with any of you? I feel very anxious at times. Also, did anyone experience weight gain after treatment? Would you reccommend seeking a nutritionist post-treatment? Thanks for everyone's time!:-)

Guest guest
Hi, Mona, I'm still here. After 5 years on Tapazole/Synthroid med., I've been off med since April 1 and so far so good. Latest blood test showed me in the " normal " range <G>. And I feel better than I've felt in years...so.. maybe..... Blood tests will be done again in November unless I request it earlier. My endo. trusts me to know if I am feeling differently and think I need blood work done. So, I'm taking my vitamins, my copper, Allegra for allergies, Atenolol for blood pressure and Lipitor. That may sound like a lot to some people but it's a lot LESS for me.... Now if I could just lose some of the 40 lbs I gained in the past 5 years!!!! Fran Re: Mona where is everybody? Guest guest
Hi Joyce, It's awfully quiet out there, thought perhaps the BB was down. I think stress was the primary culprit for triggering Graves. Have to keep a careful watch on stress level. Mona Re: Mona Hi Mona: Very happy to hear that you're still in remission. Guest guest
Hi Barb, Nope, never had a problem with cea but did have burning red ears and chest when I went too hypo on meds. Did you go hypo naturally or did you have RAI? Mona Re: Mona > Hi all! I'm new to the group so I thought I'd > introduce myself. > > My thyroid has been giving me trouble since about 13 > years old. Guest guest
Hi Fran, Is Allegra a prescription drug or is it a vitamin for allergies? I used to take prescription drugs for my allergies but got tired of taking any kind of meds I stopped everything. I finally went off PTU in January. Saw the Endo Friday morning - Said tests results are in normal range. My eyes have been bothering lately and think I figured out why. I've been working too many hours - by the end of the week I'm exhausted and have a nasty headache. So from now on I'm working normal hours. After a good night sleep and a stress free day my eyes haven't bothered me at all. Definitely get a blood test if you notice any changes in your health. I usually run to the lab every 3 months - even tho I don't see the doc for 5-6 months (I call the office for the test results so know if I'm in normal range). Guest guest
Hi Mona and all, My daughter has Grave's disease and is only 28 years old. She has been under alot of stress lately and I know for a fact that stress causes havoc in the body. Each individual will react differently! I also know that the Thyroid is considered our emotional organ. So if anything traumatic happens to us that causes an emotional state, such as a break-up, death, loss of job, etc. our body responds, and that can be just the trigger for such a problem. It is like a chain reaction! My best! Have you ever wished you owned your own time? Visit: http://www.timefreedom.evisionbiz.com

Guest guest
Hi Barb, So glad you found this Bulletin Board (BB). Lots of knowledgeable people here that have shared similar experiences. I can't help you with the pregnancy experience but maybe someone else can. Don't forget to visit 's website and Elaine's - very informative! Guest guest
Oh, I wished I owned my time every single day - more so the older I get!! I was extremely stressed when diagnosed with Graves - I'm sure that's the culprit. I'm in remission now but I now try to keep a check on my stress level - not always easy. Your daughter needs to change her lifestyle if possible to take care of her health. She needs to rest, take time for herself. I quit school, cut back on activities and learned to say NO! It worked but it took a long time. I find time alone helps tremendously. Take care, Mona Re: Mona > Hi Mona and all, > > My daughter has Grave's disease and is only 28 years old.
