I bought a bottle of Iosol the other day and took one drop in a glass of water

(nasty stuff). The instructions on the bottle say to dissolve one drop in 2oz

of water and then take one tsp of that (seems like way too little but it's 102%

of the RDA). Can you overdose on iodine? It just seems that 8 drops a day of

this stuff is an awful lot. Thoughts???

Hi Amber,

Dietary iodine is just that 'dietary'. That means your body will absorb what it

needs and you will excrete the rest. 8 drops is not much for many people. But,

you have to wake up this sleeping thyroid. It takes a little while to do that.

When it starts 'eating' normally again, your body feels more energy and starts

feeling warmer along with other things. What is on the bottle is the minimum

amount to give not the best amount. Your body has to determine that if you learn

how to listen to it.

dont taste nasty and is recommended by leading iodine researchers.

Toni,

Can you give me more info on Indoral? Who are those experts? I will call them

and talk with them. I am thankful that there are other helps for the thyroid out

there. Armour thyroid has not helped many over the years.

Thanks,

Johanne

My breast cancer patients take Iosol. I took it for the pituitary brain tumor

and the breast cancer episode. I believe in the iodine supplementation. What I

found is that your body gets used to supplements after a time. You need to

rotate the supplements that best help raise your immune system. That is my

personal experience and that of all the people that came through here. So Iosol

is one product but I know there are others. Armour has brought some help for

people but not as much as other forms.

Thank you for the explanation Johanne. My thyroid isn't just

sleeping - it's in a coma! I found that putting Iosol in juice takes the edge

off the taste.

The problem with Iosol is that each drop is only 1.83 mg. of Iodine as

opposed to Lugol's at 6.25 mg per drop.

Iosol is made up of Glycerine(vegetable),Iodine and Ammonium Iodide.

There is no indication of the proportions of Iodine to Iodide or even

if Ammonium Iodide provides Iodide the same way the Potassium Iodide

of Lugol's does. Our bodies need both.

If you are going to be away, why don't you order three bottles of

Iodoral from breastcancerchoices.org? It is much cheaper that way and

then you won't have to worry for six months. Three bottles of 180

tablets of 12.5 mg. each. That is 540 - 12.5 mg. tablets. Even if

you took 100 mg. per day (8 tablets), that would last you six months.

I forgot to say that breastcancerchoices.org sends out right away and

you will have it in plenty of time if you order tomorrow.
