I'm an everything in moderation person. If I stall then I might start

counting calories but this is working for the time being.

> What eating plans do you ladies follow?

Well, I'm constantly in a state of flux, switching from one plan to another

as my appetite changes, and for the past 2 weeks had been eating real foods

with portion control using ' FoodMover.

Not only have I *gained* another pound, but my blood pressure is going out

of control (180/100 last night!) from eating salty foods. Can I help it if

my favorite meats are of the smoked variety? :(

Right now, even the lower salt bouillion and broths are affecting me, so

it's time for a change again.

I'm back on the McDougall Plan

(http://www.fatfree.com/diets/mcdougall.html), following mostly the Maximum

Weight Loss Plan (http://members.tripod.com/~susang2/mwlp.htm) . The plan is

a very low fat vegetarian, no dairy or eggs, with whole grains as opposed to

processed (brown rice, whole wheat) and the MWLP version eliminates all soy,

nut, and flour products, as well as some other small differences. This is

the plan I had lost almost 50 pounds on then plateued, then got frustrated

at the lack of further weight loss and then wandered off of. I go back on it

now and then when *other* plans don't work, then get the urge for an

off-plan food, usually cheese, and go off it again, gaining back even more

weight.

I was headed back to it yesterday morning, anyway, but the salt & blood

pressure thing *really* scared me now, so it's back on 100% - for health

this time instead of weight loss as the main goal.

>I do not follow any of the low-carb plans in particular, they are just too

restrictive.

Many low carb plans are unhealthy amd too restrictive. Others, like Sugar

Busters, are well balanced but high in fat.

If you're perfectly healthy and have a hearty appetite for good old American

cooking, the best plan for weight loss is a plan like 's or Weight

Watcher's, an exchange plan. You get to eat a little of everything,

including things like candy and cake. The problem is, you have to watch

those portions and pay very close attention to the amount of foods you eat.

If you're allowed 4 fruits and 4 fats in one day, do you really want to give

up 2 of each for some chocolate? It's just a matter of choosing a plan you

can live with, what sacrifices you're willing to take.

I was always taught low-fat was the proper way to lose weight but I

ended up low-fatting myself to 120 lbs overweight. I also never

believed limited any one food group was healthy but since this is

working for me, I am sticking with it. I am very envious of those of

you who can lose weight with foodmovers or weight watchers because I

like the idea of them but I never could get them to work for me even

when I follow them exactly.

for some reason my email is not cooperating and I am not getting the

group mail. Hopefully it will work itself out.

It's a thing. It took me over 4 weeks to start getting mail from one

list, 3 weeks to *stop* getting mail from another. They say that some of

their servers are so busy it's taking anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks (or

more) for new members of various groups to get their mail flowing, even

though they may have received a Welcome letter to the group and have full

web access.

I know it's a pain reading email from the web site (those ads drive me

crazy) but hang in there - it *will* resolve itself.

Marty,

If you found what works best for you, that is great and that's all that

counts. Please believe me when I say that I mean that with not a single

ounce of sarcasm. After all that is THE MOST IMPOTRTANT ISSUE HERE, ISN'T

IT?

I would like, before I personally, sign off from this specific discussion to

point to a web site that to me seemed to be quite objective on this matter:

www.ifst.org/hottop34.html. I found it to be quite interesting and unbiased.

Anyway, I would like to ask if any of you have had any experience with Bio

Pro Thymic Protein A to help in the fight against cancer?

Lastly, I agree with Marty that we need kindness instead of hostility in

this group. We should understand that no one can claim they have exclusivity

on truth. We are here to help each other, learn from each other and not to

bicker and create bad feelings. Respectful disagreements are O.K insults is

another matter.

Enjoy your weekend everyone

Gubisara,

Yes I agree, dairy or soy, too much or too little protein, antioxidants or

not during treatment . . . . to have treatment or not etc etc, ultimately we

are left to find what works best for us individually. As if cancer isn't

enough, we are left to find our way through a maze of opinions. I remember

at the cancer clinic shortly after my diagnosis a nurse said, " you are going

to have to find what works for you " . My whole being shuttered in that

moment, what did she mean? I felt real fear not as much for the cancer but

that I was going to have to take the right steps, not knowing what they

should be, about a disease that I knew nothing about and the implication of

these decisions could be life or death. Where were the experts to guide me

through this, I am not qualified in anyway to make these decisions? They

were everywhere, with an opinion often directly contradictory of each other.

So as you say Gubisara and that nurse said that day, " you are going to have

to find what works best for you " . I pray that anyone going through his or

her battle with cancer have as much peace as possible during the process of

making these difficult decisions; you are going to have to find what works

best, what makes the most sense to you. I wish you success!

I'll check out the site, no I haven't had any experience with Bio Pro Thymic

Protein A.
