Hopefully this info is to just get the " other side " of the story. Soy does not

cause all these problems because everyone eating tofu in Asian countries would

be falling over from eating it, right??? However, the thought of ADM selling

genetically altered soybeans made with the

Roundup pesticide " gene " makes me furious. Do you want to be eating

pesticide???? Buy non-GMO soy products.

You can not buy NON GM soy in the US, just go to your favorite store and

purchase the organic soy and try to sprout it, guess what, it will not sprout,

just try it and see for yourself.

Elaine -

do you have an explanation/source why GM seeds don't sprout?

I bought parsley seed which didn't sprout.

If it is true that Non GM soy is not available in the US, that is disturbing

indeed. What about " organic " Mori-Nu Tofu that comes in the box at health food

stores?

One hears about Archer s Midlands efforts to grow soy and other

agricultural products in Cuba, which has had all organic farming due to

inability to pay for pesticides after the Soviets stopped giving support.

Supposedly, Cuba has become very organic minded and will not allow pesticides,

but I don't know how you can stop these trends.

I bought some broccoli seeds from Sun Organics, which is supposed to be a good

company. At least half of them did not sprout, so I had to go back to buying

them from the healthfood store, which are costly and not even organic. Maybe

they didn't sprout due to age or something?

I read it on one of the web pages, if I find it I will post it.

That is what Monsanto does so you will have to buy seed from them again, their

GE stuff will not sprout.

You may want to do a search on GE, I believe that is how I found it.

kazsu offered the following clever reasoning:

>Hopefully this info is to just get the " other side " of the story. Soy does not

cause all these problems because everyone eating tofu in Asian countries would

be falling over from eating it, right???

Wrong, but thanks for the opportunity to exercise my sarcastic side.

I recommend that you just hope a lot and believe what you want to believe! Don't

bother to get the facts from both sides, weigh the evidence and make an informed

decision. For your own peace of mind, don't concern yourself with the sources of

funding for soy studies with a positive spin! Doing these things might cause

your brain to overheat -- a thoroughly unpleasant experience. And whatever you

do, stay away from the following Web pages:

<http://www.thedoctorwithin.com/articles/magic_bean.html>

<http://www.westonaprice.org/soy/soy_alert.html>

<http://www.soyonlineservice.co.nz/>

Also, if you happen upon the newly published work of Dr. Lon White at the

Pacific Health Research Institute in Honolulu while cruising around the Web,

grab that mouse and hit the " Back " button in your browser ASAP! It suggests that

regular consumption of tofu over many years during middle age was associated

with early dementia or, what Dr. White terms, " accelerated brain aging. " That

White guy must be come kind of Communist pinko nut.

>Roundup pesticide " gene " makes me furious. Do you want to be eating

Hey, you're batting 500! That ought to be good enough to satisfy anybody.

Silly me, i thought that we were having a discussion about soy. I do not claim

to be able to cure cancer. However, having cancer, i have done a lot of research

on nutrition and nutritional myths. Modern soy is loaded with phytoestrogens,

compounds that mimic estrogen in the body. Like many other endocrine disruptors,

phytoestrogens disrupt thyroid function. The damage can be permanent but

obviously the soy industry thinks that goitre and hypothyroidism don't qualify

as evidence of harm!

Do you know what phytoestrogens are? Do you know that ADM applied to the FDA to

have them given GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status, and withdrew their

request because of the mountain of evidence that the opposition presented

showing them to be unsafe? Do you know that the only thing they have been

approved for is as binder for making cardboard.

Do you know that Recent research has demonstrated that chemical compounds found

in soy, specifically phytoestrogens, can have a number of effects on male health

including decreasing prostate gland weight, lower testosterone levels, along

with inducing significant testicular cell death and necrosis?

No, i'm not really laughing at all.

We *are* talking about soy, indeed! I am saying that Dr. Hauser, a cancer

specialist who has worked with advanced cancer patients successfully, recommends

the use of soy against cancer. On page 296 of his book, he gives two examples of

women with breast cancer who were able to lower their problem estrogen, i.e.,

estradiol, levels dramatically when they began a high soy, high protein diet. I

already posted some of his rationale for this, but you would have to read all 11

pages of his new book that touch on the subject to get the rest and a better

technical understanding than I can provide at this time.

If you don't agree with him, that is your prerogative. However, besides the fact

that you have not read his book and effectively rebutted all of his points, I

would suspect he has a lot more successful experience working with cancer

patients, including advanced cancer patients, than you. His business as a cancer

doctor is based on his reputation, and his reputation based on what he says, in

his book, at his website (a blurb of which I posted earlier), etc. Why would he

stick out his neck to make up a story against the bulk of

traditional/alternative viewpoints about soy when his income is derived from a

medical practice/reputation he obviously has incentive to protect and uphold?

I am sure Dr. Hauser takes all the common objections about goiter, thyroid,

etc., into consideration when he recommends soy. Those objections are really

nothing new, having been discussed and rather well known, it would seem for

quite some time. Rather, I find what Hauser says to be new. Either you are open

to it or not, but that is up to you. Regardless of what you believe, the info is

out there and I find it credible.
