In the CAN-1 trial, the oldest trial, median time to disease progression was 16 months from first day of treatment. Median Time of survival was 27 months from first day of treatment and median time of survival from diagnosis is 4 years. Of the 43 patients(including those non-evaluable) in the CAN-1 trial 16 patients are alive and responding to antineoplastons for an average survival of 4 years. Antineoplastons will be submitted to the FDA for approval as a new prescription drug later this year. Currently they are only available in clinical trials. Since it is considered experimental insurance and HMO's usually will not pay for it up front although some people have received settlements after they rcovered and claimed reimbursement. I took the medicine prescribed for 5 years and that did nothing but give me side effects. The next step was to administer 'gamma knife' a specialized type of radiation but we said no. That was 9 years ago. My husband had asked the doctor to introduce us to patients that have had productive lives since the procedures and she did not want to do that. We have never met anybody since that has had productive lives that has survived brain tumors with radiation. I am talking about a life without drugs or followup treatments or massive headaches. Anyway, I am 40 years old now, homeschool our four children 11-15 years old, became a certified nutritionist to be able to understand how to live a holistic lifestyle, and deal with things nutritionally. I do have a few 'tumor' effects but the thing does not act up very much any longer. I take Protocel 50 which lowers the ATP level of the tumor and it is now 3mm instead of 10mm. I am thankful that God allowed me to learn as much as I did in the holistic world. I was an RN in Canada years ago. I am planning to start college in the couple of months to get my American Bachelor's degree in Nursing. I love the field of medicine. I just think that it is so important to look at the body as a whole instead of parts. When one is fighting for their life, medicine has to help, not hurt.... This group is awesome. There are many learned people that contribute to this list. As you learn, you will figure out what will work for you. It would have been so helpful for me 15 years ago to have a support group like this. It is hard enough to go against the medical flow to be allowed to live, let alone when you have a brain tumor that sometimes is in a hurry to grow! I'm not suggesting that you should stop the drugs that you are taking because I know you feel that you need them, but I want to point out that to expect the Budwig Protocol to perform as Dr. Budwig reported that it did for her patients, one would have to be following it in the way she recommended. The drugs that you are taking may be interferring with the diet doing what it has done for many others on the FlaxseedOil2 list - eliminate tumors. Dr Budwig did not claim that ANYTHING could be cured in a few months, but many people who were told they were terminal have regained their health with her protocol. In fact, right now on FlaxseedOil2, the family of a young woman, Kristy, has kept us posted on her experience. Doctors said her cancerous brain tumor would kill her and nothing could be done. I'm not suggesting that you should stop the drugs that you are taking because I know you feel that you need them, but I want to point out that to expect the Budwig Protocol to perform as Dr. Budwig reported that it did for her patients, one would have to be following it in the way she recommended. The drugs that you are taking may be interferring with the diet doing what it has done for many others on the FlaxseedOil2 list - eliminate tumors. Dr Budwig did not claim that ANYTHING could be cured in a few months, but many people who were told they were terminal have regained their health with her protocol. In fact, right now on FlaxseedOil2, the family of a young woman, Kristy, has kept us posted on her experience. Doctors said her cancerous brain tumor would kill her and nothing could be done. She had no surgery and no conventional treatment. Her family began bringing the Budwig diet to her in the terminal ward of the hospital for every meal and feeding it to her. She couldn't speak, sit up or focus her eyes at that point. Within three weeks she began improving and has steadily recovered over about 5 months to the point that she is now off the terminal ward and in rehab relearning to walk and talk. There are many learned people that contribute to this list. As you learn, you will figure out what will work for you. It would have been so helpful for me 15 years ago to have a support group like this. It is hard enough to go against the medical flow to be allowed to live, let alone when you have a brain tumor that sometimes is in a hurry to grow! My problem is when i cut back, as i've tried on my meds, i get more dizzy spells. Not like a full seizure, but like the beggining of one. This is very draining. I'm worried that if i stop the meds totally i could have a large seizure and end up in the hospital. Most all my life , after my teens(im almost 50) i didnt take any meds, because i dont believe in them. Well its only been 2 months since this happened, and its very confusing for me. i havent given in to a biospy . Im hoping that the Budwig diet will help and heal enough so that i can cut out the meds and not have seizures. Any advice is helpfull.
