Great to hear from you again! Keep fighting those dr's and bureaucratic nazis. I wouldn't rule out money if I were you. Talk to an attorney, sometimes money is the only language these people understand. Maybe if they're hit in the pocketbook, the next person in your shoes will receive a little better treatment. Hang in there as always. I know you're too darn stubborn to be held down. You must have some Irish in you! -dz-

Hi Debbie. I handled it ok. I had a lot of trouble in the beginning. I took 2 mos. off on the family medical leave act. Being salaried, I got my regular pay, so why not. All I needed was a dr's excuse recommending the leave. I ended up going back after 4 weeks and I worked the rest of the way through, missing a few more days than normal. I went on antidepressants right away because of advice I had gotten from others. I'd have to say I never really felt 100% during the treatment, but most of the time the most I suffered was the fatigue. The so called "flu-like"symptoms came and went. I always paid the price when for one reason or another I did not drink enough water. I believe I will do it again if it comes back, but I'm hoping I never have to make that decision... :) -dz-

Hi, Dave,

I always paid the price when for one reason or another I did not drink enough water.

Could you elaborate a bit on that? I'm still trying to discover what is causing my chronic coughing, and if there's anything I can do to stop it. I get up to pee three times a night as it is, so it's hard to believe I'm not drinking enough water.

But I read in a physical fitness mag one time that when you diligently increase your water intake, you have to urinate frequently in the beginning, but that once your body becomes properly 'hydrated,' you stop having to go as much. I wonder if there's any truth to this. Any comments? From anyone else?

Much obliged,

I think that IS true. I had ahorrible time at first.

I was going to pee all the time. I do seem to do

better, the more water I drink. I find when I get one

of these headaches I have to sleep through them and

its hard to drink when I'm sleeping. Also sometimes

the headaches make me nauseas, so nothing stays down.

Gets to be a vicious cycle. But I'm undetectable so

it's going to be worth it. Only 17 more shots out of

48.

Good luck .

I never did get around having to get up at least once during the night to pee. But only once, towards the end. I guess I must've adjusted somewhat. The medication dehydrates you, so a lot of that water will just naturally take the place of that you're losing. That's tough when you are having trouble sleeping already. I usually ended up reading for a little while afterwards in order to fall back asleep. Depending on the time I could take a xanax if it wasn't to close to getting up for work time. I tried to drink 4 liters of water everyday, but would try to drink most of it during the day. I usually drank at least 3, but often didn't finish the 4th. Some days though, I would get busy, and forget and all of a sudden it's evening and I'm trying to catch up. -dz-

Hi

Your cough is probably being caused by the Ribavirin. That is one of the side effects of the drug. I too had the cough while on the treatment, but it subsided when I finished.

Thanks, again, ,

I know I asked this question before and you told me this; guess I needed a reminder!

Kind regards,

telling me your experience with drinking all that water.

Hi, ,

Wishing you good luck with your new 3G!!!

I have a star tac - motorola cell phone which I use infrequently. I use

just my hearing aid with it, without the t-coil. It works for me for short

conversations if I'm in a quiet environment. It is getting more difficult for

me and I'm hoping distinction kicks in with my CI so I can use it for the

phone. Then I hope I won't need extra wires or plug-ins. But we'll see.

Distinction first! ARGGG LOL

I believe Kathy installed a commercial loop kit in her home for

, which is always an option. I'm looking for the cheap way in! LOL

I'm not

sure what kind of loop I'd need either. I'm sure these answers will come as

everyone returns from the SHHH convention! Thanks for your input and

support!!!

Hi Michele,

My husband is in the same boat. 3 herniated disks that are causing severe

pain - and he's only 45 and unable to work.

Of course, they could all be fused, but that doesnt leave much quality of

life. And 3 level disk replacements are about 2 years + away from being approved

in the US, unless you want to try Germany. Dr. Bertagnoli has been doing them.

In the meantime, find a GOOD pain management doc..

<angels91@...> Subject: Hi Hope I'm

in the right place... My mom is in pain from 3 herniated

discs that are leaning on her spine. They cause her

much pain in her lower back which goes down her right

leg & sometimes left leg. She describes it as

having to drag her leg around with tightness, pulling

& tingling. At 69 she is normally a very active

woman. She was x-rayed in June & was told she

had arthritis on her left hip & was given Celebrex

200 mg 3x daily for 10 days & found relief from it.

Also was given Skelaxin 800 mg 3x daily with the

Celebrex. In July she had an MRI & found that she

had the 3 herniated discs leaning on her spine. Was

given Neurontin 600 mg 3x daily which didn't help her

at all so she stopped it completely. Now she is taking

nothing. She has tried regular physical therapy for

about 2 months with no help. Now as of the last 2

weeks has been trying Mc Kenzie therapy & it's

too soon to tell if it is helping. She has only gone 4x as

of now. She has been offered to go back on Celebrex

& Skelaxin but doesn't care to take medications

longterm. Also was offered cortizone shots. Does

anyone have any similar sitations or suggestions to

help? I would like to know what has helped or not

helped. Would be much appreciated. Thank you,

Michele
