Hi Mark,

Re: [ ] Groups and Clubs??

If nothing else, your daughter should get off animal products and all cooked fats, as well as processed junk food.

I've got a question:

You've heard of healing with raw animal foods, haven't you?

There's a naturopath that claims a very high "cure" rate

for cancer, specifically, by prescribing a diet that is

very high in raw animal fats and proteins. What's your

opinion of this?

Hi ,

I imagine you'd feel better on such a diet for a time, just as people on the Atkins diet (high in cooked meat and

fat) do for a time. But it seems to me that the well known problems of meat eating will eventually catch up with you. And with raw meat you have the added factor of parasites to contend with, which is no small matter.

I think I know who you are referring to, a guy named Aajonus Vonderplantz (sp?). I have read excerpts from some of his stuff, and I have read stuff from other people questioning whether his "cures" stayed cured, but I haven't gone into it in depth and I can't keep all that stuff in my head. I'm sure people have criticized the vegetarian raw food healers too, but at least they have on their side some very major studies (the famous China study, for one) which very clearly point to the long term health advantages of plant eating over animal flesh eating. And I have heard of far more people curing themselves of cancer and other serious diseases with raw plant food than people who eat raw animal food.

Not being a scholar in these matters, I have to listen to my heart. My heart tells me that eating raw animal foods makes no sense. I was on a raw food list once in which many of the people were raw animal food eaters. I eventually had to sign off because they were all eagerly comparing notes on how wonderful it was to eat raw brains, raw eyeballs, etc. I felt like I was on a different planet. For better or worse, I'm going with plants. 25 years after giving up meat and 15 years after giving up dairy, I'm doing great, and haven't taken medicine in years.

Mark
