Guest guest
Hi All, I have a friend who has controlled her Lymphoma for 8 years through diet alone. She is on the Living Foods Vegetarian diet. In the first 2 weeks of being on the diet, the lumps in her neck from the cancer began diminishing & eventually disappeared. Her oncologist measured them each week. He was amazed. Whether it is the Budwig diet, the Gerson or the Living Foods diet, they all eliminate animal flesh from the diet and emphasize vegetables and fruits. Dr. Budwig says, " No animal fats. " That pretty much eliminates meats, although some people have a little chicken or fish. Gerson is adament about avoiding animal products. And the Living Foods diet, also called Raw Foods diet, does not allow animal protein. A few years ago a very large study of the Chinese people who still live in small villages and eat traditionally was done by Cornell University, Oxford University and the University of China working together over a period of years. The people in the villages ate lots of fresh vegetables, usually from their own gardens, and less than 10% of their diet was animal foods. They also walked or rode bicycles and were part of a large family and close knit community. Of the thousands that were studies over the years, almost none had cancer or heart disease or many of the other illnesses we get in the industrialized nations. Other similar studies have been done on cultures in other parts of the world that eat a diet full of vegetables and almost no animal foods. There is also no sugar or junk snack foods in these diets. In fact, no processed foods. The more natural the food, the better for our bodies. And keeping the animal flesh foods to under 10% of the diet or none at all is a factor according to the research that I've read over the years. Also, eliminating sugar, a highly processed and unnatural product, is key, according to these diets and studies. Annie
Guest guest
>>christina wrote: >>it sounds great but if it was simple and easy to be cured of >>cancer, then why are people still dying by the hundreds of thousands? Hi , The main reason is that doctors are not are not recommending diet and nutrition as a way of managing cancer. They are tied to the drug companies and they promote drugs as a way to manage diseases. All of their training and their journals are supported by drug corporations. There is no profit in promoting the use of foods to heal diseases. And, the truth is that doctors and drug companies are in business to make a profit. Allopathic medicine is about dealing with disease through the use of drugs and surgery. Some doctors who are now moving to integrative or alternative medicine are promoting natural ways of healing, but they are going against the grain of the drug industry which has a lot of influence in federal and state governments because of large contributions to the campaigns of senators, congressmen and the president. Consequently, many doctors who try to help people through diet and natural means are accused of some type of federal violation and taken to court, often their license to practice medicine is revoked. That's what happened to Dr. Max Gerson when he showed that he could cure some cancers through diet. It has happened to many other doctors and is happening today. In the meantime, thousands are dying as a result of relying on chemo and radiation. Some people go through it and live for 6 or 7 years when the cancer returns, more vicious than before. Those who live longer usually have changed their diet and exercise method, as we know is true for heart disease also. The cancer industry is huge, bringing in billions of dollars to corporations and doctors. It's difficult to even get any publicity in a journal for a study that shows that people who follow a more vegetarian, natural diet can avoid cancer and heart disease as well as other diseases. But if you look for it, the information is out there. It gets mentioned on the news or in a magazine. But most people follow what their doctor tells them to do. It takes courage and discipline to completely change your diet and lifestyle. It isn't easy. If it were, no one would be overweight in this country, but obesity is a major problem. Guest guest
Here are a couple websites for Living Foods Diets. Maybe others would find them interesting to read. http://www.living-foods.com/ http://www.annwigmore.org/ There are other web sites besides these. Just put the words into Google & you'll get several. Actually, my friend's diet is a little more like the Ann Wigmore version of the living foods diet. She doesn't cheat or stray from this diet. Regarding a little about her program, she grows, juices and drinks wheatgrass juice several times a day. She eats all ORGANIC foods, starting with a variety of raw vegetable salads (carrot/raisen, broccoli/squash/pine nuts & raisens, spinach & strawberry OR spinach, onion & shitake mushroom) as well as lettuce salads with tomato & avocado, plus others. She uses raw almond butter on Manna or Ezekiel breads (both considered to be living foods because of the sprouted ingredients). And she uses cooked quinoa grain and raw, unsalted nuts as protein sources. She also likes to eat raw almond butter on apple slices. She eats no salt, sugar or animal products. She has a few lightly steamed vegetables a day also, as well as various raw fruits. She also takes magnesium-oxygen capsules to clean out her bowels daily and she has a colonic every 2 or 3 weeks. This is all similar to the general concept of the Gerson plan: take in high levels of vegetables, fruits & juices with enzymes still intact, no animal products, sugar or salt, keep the bowels clean & support the liver. She also has a reverse osmosis water filter to eliminate the chlorine and floride from their water. Also, she works parttime at a job she loves in a supportive environment and she has a very loving and supportive husband. Both of these give her emotional support, which I think is an important part of a healing program. She looks like the picture of health & has plenty of energy. Her eyes sparkle and she has a very positive and cheerful outlook on life. She was diagnosed with cancer the first time about 14 years ago, when she was still in her 30's. She knew nothing about alternative methods of healing then and went through about 38 treatments of chemotherapy, etc. When the cancer came back after about 6 years, she said she wasn't going through chemo again. She went to an institute for 2 weeks for learning the diet. She been healthy ever since, the past 7 or 8 years. Annie
Guest guest
Let me add...it is NOT SIMPLE! Chemo is MUCH MUCH simpler! My gerson therapy diet includes 2 YEARS of rigorous effort, requiring my effort and full-time caregiver - and we can barely manage it! It is also very expensive, as we purchase over 17 pounds of organic produce PER DAY! Medical science uses immuno-boosting therapy (interluken, etc.), and then in the same breath say that your immune system cannot cure cancer. Wierdness. For a sick person (me) to boost their immune system enough to cure cancer is THE HARDEST UNDERTAKING IN THE WORLD. No exageration there. 14 hours per day, every day, for 2 years. No life whatever. But then, hopefully, I am rigorous and healthy for the next 40 years of my life. If you want to live, you will do what it takes. " Just eating vegetarian " will not cure cancer. Eliminating poisons from your system and flooding your system with nutrients bears little resemblance to " just eating vegetarian " . Trust me on this. Time to do a coffee enema (really) - bye! Guest guest
Not all cancer-healing diets are as difficult and time consuming or as expensive as the Gerson Diet and yet there is plenty of evidence that they heal cancer patients. The Flaxseed Oil 2 Group discusses the cancer healing diet of Dr. Johanna Budwig. This is a very easy-to-prepare diet that is fast acting in healing many cancers, even for for people who have been told that they have only a few weeks to live. It's also an inexpensive diet. You can join the FlaxseedOil2 Group and read their files. They will tell you about Dr. Budwig and her protocol as well as give testimonials from people in the group who have eliminated their cancer. This diet can also help with heart disease, arthritis, and diabetes. The Harvard Health Letter report of scientific studies supports all of the foods that the Budwig Diet recommends, including the low fat cottage cheese. [ian, your statement that milk and milk products are bad for anyone with cancer doesn't seem to be true based on the research of Dr. Budwig & recent scientific studies.] FlaxSeedOil2/?yguid=108474375 There is also the Living and Raw Foods Diet, which has helped to heal many people. You can find more information at the following link. http://www.living-foods.com/links.html Whether it is the Gerson Diet, the Budwig or the Living Foods Diets, or the recent scientific studies, they are all saying something similar - to help prevent or eliminate cancer or heart disease, eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, avoid animal flesh, sugar, white flour, preservatives, unhealthy fats & oils and chemicals[including drugs]. That means eating natural, fresh, organic foods and getting some exercise outside in the fresh air and sunshine as much as possible. Guest guest
> But what is the logic of the rest? Surely a high veg diet with lots of water means that the system is flushed through Ian, it sounds like we are in the same boat. I am IV B melanoma with mets subcutaneous to the lymph nodes and to the lungs. No adverse health symptoms - just a few lumps in the skin. My " offical " prognosis is <5%, though interluken was mentioned as a un-verified 5%, and a interluken-chemo cocktail at a " very unverified " 10-15% (Sloan Kettering did a clinic trial on that protocol, and found it no better than dacarbazine - near 0 survival advantage, but MD and Univ of Colorado Hospital both claim results of 10-15%. I checked out Burzynski -- not good results with my disease either. Then my Mom stumbled on Gerson. GREAT results with melanoma. The therapy is an INTENSIVE nutrient flood and INTENSIVE toxin flush. For 2 years, I eat ONLY organics - vegan. No animal protein. (Some organic yogurt and pot cheese eventually). NO FATS, except those found in vegetables and in COLD PRESSED ORGANIC FLAX SEED OIL. I avoid ALL contact with chemicals (our water is fouridated so I do not touch it - distilled only). I take digestive aids to help digest the 17 POUNDS of organic produce I consume daily. I also take B12 injections. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, as my flood of nutrition gives my body what it needs for my immune system to fight off my disease, I do coffee enemas every 4 HOURS! Chemos and interluken etc. is at direct odds with Gerson, as the Gerson Therapy only has that many more toxins to help the body get rid of. I heal myself. The therapy is just a tool to promote my ability to heal. It is rigorous. Dr. Max Gerson (Nobel prize winner) studied this in the 20's, 30's and 40's. He found specific combinations of foods that maximized immune response and other foods that fed cancer tumors. He died in the 50's, and his daughter Charlotte Gerson continued promoting his work. It is a shame there is little money in potatoes and carrots, or the medical/drug industry would not slander it so. Do I believe it works?? I HOPE so, of course, since there is little to no hope otherwise. But I spoke wiht real people who had even more advanced melanoma than I, and they have been alive 15, 20, even 25 years. YOU TOO CAN SPEAK WITH THOSE PEOPLE. I recommend you do 3 things: 1) Call the Gerson Institute and get the names of melanoma survivors, and call those people -they will be happy to share their experience with you. 2) Get Charlotte's book from them and read it. 3) Make your own choice. Of all cancers Max Gerson treated, his best results happened to be melanoma - and ALL THE " SIDE EFFECTS " are wonderful, not harmful. I would be VERY interested to know how your treatment is going, and what it is like to take interluken - I considered that treatment very seriously before choosing Gerson. Ted theobaby@... P.S. Oh yeah, NO WATER AT ALL!!! I drink over 100 oz of juice each day, and water only dilutes stomach acid and takes up room that is better filled by organic produce. There is a special soup (made with dist9lled water) which functions to cleans the kidneys. If I am thirsty (rarely!) I eat a fruit. No exercise either. All extra energy is conserved for the healing process. NO MAGIC BULLETS here - just common sense immune-boosting. And you can speak to ACTUAL survivors of this and many other cancers and other diseases. Good Luck!
