Guest guest
Hi , just have fun, and make the juice taste good so you will drink it more! I did not follow a book, but I did go to Hippocrates Institute in FL for 3 weeks, where they serve juice 3 times a day. After that I was hooked! I find the cucumbers to be a good mild base, and the carrots and red peppers also give it a good taste. The kale is bitter on its own but is incredibly good for you if you add a few leaves. So you don't need to follow any recipes, just make up your own! After a while you will know what you like, and then you use what is available. Good luck! Let me know how you do- Terry Date: Thu, 26 Jan 2006 16:33:17 -0800 (PST) From: Ellis <lellis4563@...> Subject: Re: juicing novice Thanks, Terry - this is what I was looking for, the kinds of things people are doing. I have a book on juicing, but it seems a little vague. Maybe I'm feeling a little uncertain here, but I really appreciate having some guidance from those who have gone before me! lightcondor wrote: Hi , I have been juicing everyday since I was first diagnosed with BC, 2 1/2 years ago, and is has made a major difference! I can't say it has cured my cancer, that is another story, but I am doing very well. Here is what I do- I use 2 cucumbers as a base, then I add a stalk of broccoli, a few kale leaves, 2-3 celery stalks, 1-2 carrots, and whatever else I have. Sometimes I vary by adding some red pepper, cabbage, beets, black radish, burdock, daikon radish or zucchini. I also usually add some ginger. This makes abt 4 cups. I don't mix fruit in. Basically juice things you like. I used to juice sprouts- buckwheat, pea and sunflower, which are also very good. Add less of the stronger things. I don't use any recipes- but all these things are good for you. Also buy organic if you can. You can get books on juicing that may tell you more specific things. Hope this helps, Terry
