Guest guest
This is my first post to this group, although I have been a member for several months and have learned so much! A brief history - my father, 73, apparently received tainted blood during back surgery in 1970. He was diagnosed with Hepatitis C only after donating blood a few years ago and promptly started an 'alternative' regimen. His blood has been checked every six months, and he seemed to be doing quite well until early February of this year, when he experienced what he thought were chest pains. His heart was fine, but he was admitted for further checking, and it was determined that there was 'something' going on with his gall bladder, liver, lymph glands, and a spot at the back of his chest wall, very likely secondary to the Hep C. This was based on just an ultrasound and CT scan, but even without a biopsy, the arrogant surgeon proclaimed to my mother (alone) that 'we' were dealing with Stage 4, blah, blah, blah. My folks immediately enlisted the help of a naturopath who had devised the Hep C program, and Dad was started immediately on GB/liver cleanses, Graviola, and way too many other things for me to remember! They purchased a juicer and have made 180-degree changes in their diets; they are currently on the first phase of a(nother) new eating program: raw fruits and veggies, with only one daily serving or so of slightly steamed veggies, and nuts (don't know what else), and it's all organic. He's been losing weight but had significant abdominal 'bloating,' so they sought another opinion to see if they needed to alter their path somewhat. He is now under the care of another naturopath who started him on IV treatments of C and numerous other vitamins Monday. He'll be going 3 times a week for 6 weeks, and while he's had 2 colonics this week and is scheduled for another next week, I don't know how many more he's to have. The naturopath, after comparing x-rays taken last week with those taken in February, has recommended that Dad consider an IV of Laetrile/B17. He told them he couldn't order it, but THEY could, and he could then administer it. He recommended a site called cancercontrol.com, but I don't know if it's because it's the first that popped into his head or if he thinks it's the best source of information and/or Laetrile/B17 itself. I would appreciate some input from those who have used Laetrile/B17, including where you got it, how long you were on it, signs of improvement, any side effects, other important factors. Mom is also signed on to this group, but I thought I'd ask now and maybe start getting some responses before they return from today's IV excursion (30 miles away), which followed a colonic and pic line. Long day. Thank you so much! Helen
Guest guest
Hi Helen, I'm Hep C positive also, and have done much research on Alternatives in the past five years. I'd like to share a few different ideas with you in regards to this. Personally, I like Traditional Chinese Medicine along with some Ayurvedic Herbs. There's an MD in NY that is very well known for his Herbal protocals. Dr. Zhang will do telephone consults. You can fax your bloodtests to him and he will advise upon the findings. http://www.sinomedresearch.org/ Dr. Zhang's site Picrorhiza Kurroa is one of my favorite Ayurvedic Herbs for Hep C, and it's claimed to *prevent HCC. http://www.ias.ac.in/currsci/jun25/articles14.htm http://www.jpgmonline.com/article.asp?issn=0022- 3859;year=1996;volume=42;issue=4;spage=105;epage=8;aulast=Vaidya During active liver disease Glutathione levels are greatly reduced, and supplementing can be very helpful in keeping these levels in check. Low levels of Glutathione are claimed to be a precurser to cancer, so that may be something to consider. I take SAM-e along with Whey Protein Powder everyday to try and keep my levels up. My D.O. does IV Glutathione, but I decided to try and supplement first before going that route. http://valueseek.com/health/hepatitis.html Best wishes to you and your Father, ><<<(((( " > > > This is my first post to this group, although I have been a member for several months and have learned so much!
