Guest guest
Here is a link to a solid explanation how th pH of saliva and urine works. http://biomedx.com/pH/index.html www.life-enthusiast.com [ ] Alkaline simplicity > I'm not too sure if this is as simple as Dr. Lam, an Anti-Aging > 'expert'????? > > Lam has been good enough to answer some of my questions and I asked him > about the major difference between my saliva (alkaline) and urine (highly > acid). > > His first words were not to be concerned with the difference because there > usually is. Guest guest
It requires a repeat reading for sure. I'm still confused as to why my saliva is very alkaline but the urine is very acidic???????? I'm glad my saliva is alkaline but not happy with the acidic urine! Joe C.

Guest guest
The anecdotal work on urine pH was done by D.C. Jarvis, M.D. over 30 years ago (Folk Medicine). He found that as kids and his patients were about to come down with a bug their urine went from acid to alkaline. I think it's safe to accept that urine is normally acidic. Testing saliva pH was foisted on us by Barefoot who has no academic credentials worthy of mention and was brought to court by the FDA or FTC for making false claims about Coral Calcium and cancer.. I think it's safe to disregard saliva pH as meaning anything unless you can find some scientific (not naturopaths or chiropractors) documentation. I haven't succeeded in doing that. Very acidic = perhaps a problem. Anything lower than 6.5 should get attended to.
Guest guest
I don't buy your advice, . I think it has no scientific backing. And with pH paper accuracy is compromised. You need an accurately calibrated pH meter with the urine at the proper temperature or your measurements are meaningless. Litmus paper merely tells you whether you are acidic or alkaline. Even high grade pH paper doesn't solve the problem to a tenth of a pH, which is what you imply by saying 6.5 is the lower limit. I'm in good health and mine is always lower than that by both pH paper and pH meter. Beware of people trying to sell their alkalizing products. Like someone mentioned, an Alka-Seltzer will raise the pH as will antacids and ordinary baking soda. It's temporary, of course. If you want a higher urine pH (more alkaline) you must adhere to a diet that gives you that and constantly monitor. I think it's not worthwhile. Besides, the body very accurately controls blood pH at around 7.3, very mildly alkaline.
