One more thing. Since you are a nurse, I would love to hear your perspective

on the mtx. Exactly what is it that concerns you so much? I know the

general side effects, and I know it's commonly used and frequently effective.

I'm experiencing this same (irrational?) fear of putting my daughter on this

drug.

Diane,

My daughter Jenna (7 years) was initially put on mtx, she had a terrible

reaction to it, she swelled up, she had a rash all over her body, not from

the jra, a different rash, and also she was very irritable, bad mood swings,

they took her off it immediately and started her on a different steriod, that

one she had no problem with, so watch for any side effects, Jenna's didn't

start the next day it took 2 days to come out. Just a bit of info.

My daughter takes the mtx and she's doing fine on it. In the beginning she

had the mouth sores and even lost her hair, but no more sores and hair grew

back. For the mouth sores her dr gave her benadryl/mylanta mixed together and

it worked. Been on it now a year. So it works differently for everyone.

Jana,

My daughter lost just about all her hair. She wore hats alot, but this

does not happen to all kids on mtx. So don't even get to worried because a

friend of mines child didn't lose not even a string of hair. Think postive ok.

Hi Trish, I have a friend in Newcastle (I live in Maitland) who has Stage 2

Bowel cancer as well

and his wife constantly worries as he is doing alternate only. Would you be

willing to talk to

her on the phone? She asked me to try to find some alternate support people so

your case sounds

like it could be helpful. If you would like to give me your phone number you

could email it to me

direct [at ilt404 @ ] Would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Toni

Greetings to all from Downunder,

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I have just gotten over stage 2 bowel cancer last November but I still have lots

of incidences of

intermittent pain in that area and all over. I would say daily.

My lymph nodes were clear so no chemo.

A blood test for CEA last week was normal.Lymphocytes were normal too.

Are there any other tests to see if I have cancer elsewhere?

I have heard of a PET scan - my GP is not aware of this test. Do I have to go to

an oncologist to

get this PET scan?

Also are there any good diet sites for post bowel cancer and what extra vitamin

supplements would

anyone suggest I take ?

Kind regards

Trish, Sydney, Australia
