Guest guest
Don, Your humor is great. Keep it up. Did you ever work for the phone company? If not, you might have missed your calling. It is one of the only jobs where you can " reach out and touch " and not get accused of sexual harrassment! hee hee ____________________________________________________________________________ ___ > > Message: 13 > Date: Thu, 4 Nov 1999 17:56:05 -0600 > From: " Don Hanson " <donhanson@...> > Subject: RE: Sleepless > > Actually, I'm not really sure how an old broad feels...having never felt > one, myself...though I'm willing to try...<g> > > Don > AIH Minneapolis > >

Calendula officinalis is Garden marigold, pot marigold or calendula. There is no essential oil from this plant though there is a good macerated oil produced. Tagetes glandulifera is French marigold, African marigold. Tagetes is a powerful essential oil but because of the high ketone is not used by inexperienced people and must be used with extreme caution. Guest guest
> Well, I thought I'd give it one more try. I read the " Greek " letter that was posted on testing done on GSE. If you are referring to the abstracts that I posted, Debe, they looked like they were in plain English to me. >It prompted me to call the manufacturer that I'm dealing with. Now mind you, this is only one company, so I can't say what others are doing or what they claim. I talked to one of the chemists and this is what he gave me. They use NO parabens in their product. So what; Germall Plus is a very good preservative and it doesn't contain parabens. > It's all natural. Ingredients are: dry grapefruit seed powder, glycerin, acorbic acid, dextrose, citrus bioflavanoids. Does it work as a preservative? He said yes. Do I believe him? Yes, I do. I'm not trying to be smart, but for all you know, the person you talked to could have been the janitor. As Jen pointed out, this combination does not a preservative make. Why is it easier for you to ignore the hard evidence that has been presented to you on this list and believe some voice on the phone that you don't know who he says he is, or whether he is some flunky salesman. What evidence is he going to produce that proves that they have not added a commercial preservative to their product? What evidence is he going to present that this is not a dangerous and toxic product? Is he going to send you copies of challenge tests done on his product? >So may say, " You fool " . I say, my choice. If you want the name of the company and their phone number to verify the information, I can email privately. Verify what, that you had a conversation with him? If he is willing to produce the evidence I spoke of above, I would be happy to talk to him. I'll tell you what, I would settle for him putting in writing that the only ingredients in his product are those that you mentioned as long as he guarantees that this is an effective preservative in lotion and creams that will stand up to challenge testing. >I'm not saying this is the only way to go. It's what I prefer. But I'm a little tired of some acting like they know what's best and anything else is ignorance. We're all entitled to our opinions. As Debe Public, you are entitled to all the opinions you want. As soon as you become Debe Manufacturer, you can still have opinions, but if they differ from that of your regulating body, you can either change them or reap what you sow. I resent the implication that me or any of the other people that have tried to help you with the preservative issue has treated you as ignorant. All of us are on this list to help each other and I have received a lot of help from people in areas that I don't know too much about, I reciprocate in areas that I do know about. Usually it is a thankless job because I write about preservation and labeling, and there is always a bunch of people that don't want to do either properly. >If you want to use Germabin without getting your products tested, go ahead. Just let me know so I won't buy any of your products. And by the same token, I'm saying now I'll be using GSE and my products will carry the FDA warning: the safety of this product has not been determined. This warning is required by the FDA if your product has not been tested for safety. It has absolutely nothing to do with preservation and everything to do with allergic reactions to your product. After everything you have read recently, are you telling me that you would buy a product with GSE that hasn't been challenge tested, but you wouldn't buy a product with Germaben ll? I am a very logical person, and sometimes I expect others to be as logical, which doesn't always happen. In light of what has been presented to you, I don't see any logic in what you are still saying. Pat. Peace, Joy, Serenity House of Scents tm. Calendula is sometimes referred to as -pot- >marigold, but it is NOT marigold. Calendula is 'calendula officinalis'. >They are not the same, and tagetes can be toxic I believe. > HTH, > Ellen~ Eeew, I always thought " calendula " and " marigold " were synonomous, too. Do you know, offhand, the scientific name for marigold? Thanks, ~F
Guest guest
During therapy, I have found many people to state their vision has changed. I do not know of any studies that can state with any certainty that the Interferon and Ribaviran cause a direct effect, but, I have heard this from many patients. I usually recommend getting some eye wear that is less expensive, and that, if your vision does change, you're not out a great deal of money, but, you don't want to hurt your eyes either. Also, I strongly recommend a very good pair of sunglasses, with high UV rating and, for anyone with sensitive eyes may want to get polarized glasses. Many people, including my wife, have seen permanent changes in their vision, which usually seems to be positive, especially for reading. But, even after completion, or stopping of therapy, do what you need for the " here and now " , but, keep in mind, that 6-12 months after stopping, your vision may finally stabilize, and that will be where you go from then on. Like anything else with this virus, do what you need to do for now, and hopefully, after you are in remission, you can get back to formal of " normalcy " . Just stay positive.
