I have also been looking at paw paw and papaya pictures. The paw paw product

http://www.pawpawforhealth.com/sunshop/index.php?action=category & id=bestsellers

I then looked up asimina tribola and these are the pictures:

So the maple-shaped leaf one is papaya and not the paw paw for cancer??

Toni, you were saying that the maple-shaped leaf is the one which has helped

cancer patients in Australia? But it seems that is not the paw paw product sold

commercially.

Please help, am very confused right now!

Yes I think you are right . The one with the maple shaped leaf is

definitely the ones we

are using. But I think the one Jerry McLaughlin researched is the other one. I

am confused too

and cant give it any time at the moment. Too busy gathering up and boiling paw

paw leaves for

our winter which is coming!!!!! And attending to various aspects of my life that

have been put on

hold while I did research research research endlessly.

My friend Ruth continues to do so amazingly better.

The American Paw Paw and the Australian papaya are both excellent for cancer but

different parts of the plants are used. Here is the extract from Fighting

Cancer: A Survival Guide. Hope this is useful.

* Papaya and Pawpaw

The fruit that Americans know as the Pawpaw (Asiminia triloba) is not the same

fruit as the papaya (Carica Papaya) – which confusingly is also known in

Australia as paw paw.

The Papaya is an excellent fruit. It contains more vitamin A than carrots and

more vitamin C than oranges. It is particularly noted as the source of the

enzyme papain (but only in the unripe fruit) – which has powerful anti-cancer

properties in its own right. Here we are interested in the herbal aspects of the

papaya.

Harald Tietze, an Australian who has actively promoted the health benefits of

the papaya, reports that the leaves of the papaya plant have cured a number of

cases of cancer.

He recommends that a handful of leaves can be put in a saucepan with boiling

water and left to simmer for an hour. The resulting ‘tea’ can be diluted and

drunk throughout the day. One man who read Tietze’s advice, mentioned it to a

friend: ‘I told him to 'stuff a handful of pawpaw leaves into a saucepan and

fill with water; boil, simmer for one hour and drink it till it comes out of

your ears’. The friend followed this advice and, according to the anecdotal

report, five weeks later he ‘had no trace of cancer whatsoever’.

Papaya leaves and other products can be obtained from The Kombucha House,

which also sells other papaya concentrate products. For further information go

to www.kombucha-house.com

Let us now turn to the North American pawpaw, the fruit of which looks

somewhat like a thick, short banana. This herb too is considered to have

powerful biologically active effects against cancer – but in this case it is not

the leaves but the bark and twigs. When buying ‘pawpaw extract’ from a North

American herb supplier, it is this product that you will be getting.

Pawpaw extract contains a group of chemicals called acetogenins – which

interfere with the production of ATP, a chemical that is necessary for cellular

energy. The impact on ATP is more critical for cancer cells than normal cells

and results in the reduced growth of blood vessels that nourish cancer cells.

Very importantly, it is the only herb that has shown itself to be effective in

inhibiting the growth of MDR (multiple drug resistant) cells.

Pawpaw is a cousin of the graviola and , guanabana, and soursop trees.

However, the acetogenins extracted from pawpaw are reportedly even more active

against cancer than those extracted from these other sources. Pawpaw is also

effective against viruses and reduces the side effects of chemo.
