Guest guest
Hi Everyone on this list. I am a new member and have chondrosarcoma of the pelvis. I was diagnosed with a large low grade pelvic chondrosarcoma almost 5 years ago (ironically just days after my dad died of cancer, and on my birthday - pretty crazy). I met with the top surgeons in Canada (Vancouver and Toronto) to discuss removing the tumour. However after learning that this operation would remove almost 1/2 of my pelvis and fuse my hip I decided to postpone the operation. Instead I went full into complimentary medicine: high dose vitamin therapy, macrobiotics, and yoga. The tumour showed no growth 6 months later and I returned to Japan to continue teaching at a college there. In the same year I was fortuante to meet a Chinese doctor in Canada who recommended I meet with one of the top doctors in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Beijing. The TCM doctors in China work side by side with conventional doctors (western medicine). I went through a typical TCM diagnosis which is pulse and tongue observation in addition to several other criteria. Then I was prescribed 12-15 Chinese herbs that brewed up almost daily. Well it is now 5 years later, the tumour has not changed in size or metastasized and I have no pain. My diet is still pretty clean and I still take high dose vitamins and take Chinese herbal medicine. About a year ago I read an article in time magazine that discussed research in Germany using TCM herbs. Scientists there found that certain Chinese herbs literally caused sarcoma cells to committ suicide. The west is finally taking notice of Chinese medicine. It is based on a 2,000 year history of healing in China and it certainly does some good with little to no side effects. I'm not saying it is the way to go, but in my case I was faced with a life of pain and disability so I chose another path. I am fortunate so far and I could very well live for several more years or die in the near future. But honestly I know that I will live to a ripe old age, as long as I keep to my life changes that are so positive. I think western medicine has lots to offer, particulary slow growing sarcomas. Even if I was to have surgery I would always look at alternative or complimentary medicine as something to help my immune system. I am here if I can help with an introduction to Chinese herbal medicine in China or vitamin therapy (Dr. Hoffer, , B.C. Canada - a world famous doctor who uses high dose vitamin treatment for cancer patients with great success). I pray for all of you in this struggle with cancer. I pray that I can take your pain and suffering for myself. Merry Christmas and I wish for your healing and health in this coming year and many thereafter. BEST WISHES.
