Knee pain & Vioxx

I am glad they took Vioxx of the market. My knees had hurt so bad

that without Vioxx I could not walk. I was in a electric wheel chair

when I was shopping.

After the Vioxx removal I though I was ready for a double Knee

Replacement, I could not walk for the knee pain in both knees. But

the xrays show no damage to the joints. The doctors did not know why

I had so much knee joint pain.

I started reading this formum for knee pain comments, since I was

already aware that testosterone was connected to a lot of problems.

I saw where Phil had lost his pain when the T level went up over 500

or 600, mine was about 1/2 of that level & my endo said it was in the

normal range.

I was on AndroGel-5 paks. I doubled it to two paks a day or 10g. In

less than a week my knee pain was gone & I did not even need my cane.

I could not afford 2 paks of AndroGel a day, almost $400.00/month.

My endo would not try a compounded testosterone, so I changed

doctors. I could not get another endo in a 75 mile radius because

they have a group organization that specifies that they will not take

or accept another endo's patient. Even if the patient say they have

quit the first endo.

So I had to got to a new graduate internal med doc taht needed new

patients. She looked at my blood tests after she had the all run

again. I had them run than a month before. She prescribed a

compounded 2% 10g testosterone gel that was a close equiv of 2

AndroGel paks.

I got the compounded gel at about 1/10 the cost of the 2 AndroGel

paks per day. I use 2cc per day.

Now I have no knee pain & a low cost testosterone gel because Vioxx

was taken off the market.

But if the pain was still present & I had the option to buy the Vioxx

I would take it.

Being able to walk with Vioxx & taking a chance on maybe a heart

problem sometime in the future would be an easy choice for me. I

would take the Vioxx. The odds for the heart problem for me was low,

It was high for patients that had sugar problems & over age 70.
