Discouraged - want to boot my Endo

I've been working with my Endo for nearly a year. I've tried AD, AG,

and now HCG. Didn't like the patch, the AG only raised my T to the

mid-350s (while also raising my E), and now the HCG is doing very

little - a year ago my T level was about 220, now it's about 210.

I've asked my Endo repeatedly to also monitor my free T and E, but he

didn't even check them with my last labs. He has started having me do

semen analysis as part of the HCG regimen, even though I made it

clear to him that I was seeing him for T levels, not fertility. In

spite of this, he didn't seem very concerned yesterday that my T was

only 210, while at the same time wanting to do high-fives that my

sperm went from 0 to 44, whatever that means. He did up my injections

to about HALF what I think they should be - I was injecting

500isp/twice weekly to 500isp/thrice weekly. I know I should be

injecting twice that much while monitoring my T, free T, E2, FSH,

etc.

After a year of this, funds that are barely in my budget, and having

to take a half-day off work to even go see him, I'm frustrated and

ready to find someone new. Where I live - Athens, GA - there really

isn't anyone. The next appointment I have with him is mid-January.

Are there any doctors online I could work with, or that would at

least follow the regimen that I think should be followed, while

having blood work done that checks the appropriate levels? It just

isn't worth my time or money to go back to the Endo I've been using.

OR, are there any Endos in Atlanta that really know their stuff re: T

levels and hypogonadism?

Thanks, folks.

Jim here is what I would do go the links and find the tests that

need to be done print them out and show it to your Dr. And tell him

you can't go on like this that you want him to do this or that and

if he refuses ask why. Mybe he has a good reason for treating you

this way. Make him tell you his game plain.

Jim,

I'm in the Atlanta area just up the road from you in Gwinnett

county. My Endo is questionable but I know he is more then willing

on the TRT but that does not seem to be your issue. My doc also is

not very well versed on the E aspect of this so I am in the middle of

a new-endo search as well. Kind-of in between trying to train this

doc and wondering if I should find another. I just can't hold on

much longer in all honesty. He does have me on a longer term Clomid

run at 50 mg each day but he has no clue about the Estrogen

implications and is not real keen on using Arimidex or Aromasin to

help control it. Meanwhile my E2 sits in the 50's, my total E sits

around 200 (95 pg/ml above the reference range).

My theory is that my low T is caused by too much aromatazation of my

own natural T. My boys produce as they should, but that bitch enzyme

converts it all and now I want to hang curtains and plant flowers

instead of drink beer and watch football.

If you hear of any good Endo's locally for us let meknow. I will do

the same..

Good idea. You might also want to go to the " Files " section of the

group and download AACE Hypogonadism Guidelines.pdf (American

Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, Medical Guidelines for

Clinical Practice for the Evaluation and Treatment of Hypogonadism in

Adult Male Patients, 2002 Update). It would be hard for an Endo to

argue with the AACE protocol.

Best of wishes!
