Guest guest
Hi Jennie, what clinic at UCSF would that be? The UCSF Chronic Fatigue Clinic, started by Dr. and Dr. Jay Levy closed in late '96 due to lack of funding. << Subject: Re: and UCSF Hi - Sorry to hear of your experience at UCSF. My brother is an MD in Florida and keeps trying to get me to go to their clinic, as apparently they are a well-known diagnostic lab. I'm glad I didn't bother! RE: The Endo... Exactly my point right now. I'm really hoping that this Endo that I've been referred to does know his stuff! Right now, the first step that I would appreciate would simply to be getting a full range of tests done. My test that uncovered all of this problem was about 3 1/2 weeks ago and showed a 189 total T level. And my regular doc wouldn't even consider running a follow-up test for free T, E2, DHT, DHEA, etc. his eyes just started glassing over when I started talking about those particulars. So I have no clue as to what those levels are! Anyway, anyone familiar with the Endos listed with either The Hormone Foundation (www.hormone.org) or the AACE - American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (http://www.aace.com/index.php)? The guy that I was referred to comes up as listed ( " Find-A-Doc " ) on both of those sites. But does that really indicate anything??? In lieu of that, anyone familiar with an excellent Endo (excellent in this area of expertise!) in the NE Ohio (Cleveland) area? Wouldn't mind having a back-up if this current guy is clueless! Thanks. The links section here at the home page is full of good info. I was on a compounded gel for T with DHEA in it for a long time and it worked real good but this was before AndroGel and Testim came out. Today I use Testim 10 grams / day and my levels are very good once I got my E2 (Estrodiol) down. Your levels should be in the upper 1/3 of the labs range for a 25 year old man as per this link. http://www.lef.org/protocols/prtcl-130.shtml#too > >As for seeing an Endro I have been to a lot of them in the last 20 yrs. and have yet to find a good one I would tell him about my problems and that I have Low T. and that my thyroid is good form my last test. Anyway they would tell me they want to check it again and my sugar These Endro's in MI. don't know squat about Low T let alone treating it. So don't get your hopes up to high seeing this Endro unless you asked him if he trusts a lot of men for Low T. It does not matter what kind of Dr. you see for this as long as he knows what to Do. Here is a cut and paste form Dr. just to give you an idea of a good Dr. Phil > > >
Guest guest
LRS, The sooner you find a knowledgeable doc the better. You need to find one who regulary treats men for hypogonadism, regardless of " official " specialty. Surprisingly, many endos are not even competent to order the correct tests. You can screen them by asking questions before commiting to an appointment. Do they regularly treat hypogonadism? Do they get good clinical results? What tests do they regularly order? What do they think about estradiol and male hormone therapy? The following docs were found at: http://www.tuneupyourt.com Presence on the list doesn't necessarily mean competence.
