Guest guest
Total E is a check on all of the Estrogens the bad guy is E2 Estradiol and this is all you need tested have Quest do a ASSAY for men on Estradiol if they do the wrong one call them they for MI. are the worse. If I remember well, Quest Diagnostic's total estrogens (code 439X) test measures E1 (estrone)+ E2 (estradiol). If someone has both their estradiol and total estrogen levels measured, can we assume that total estrogens - estradiol = estrone? Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated, o ---------------------------------
Guest guest
Ok, so by looking at Quest's Total Estrogens test, it says that the assay measures E1 and E2. If you have your E2 and the total Estrogens tests measured separately, you can assume that total estrogens-E2 = E1, right?. Thanks and any input is appreciated, o > > Hi: > > > > Does the total estrogens test for males measures estradiol + estrone, > > since estriol is mainly found in the placenta? > > > > If I remember well, Quest Diagnostic's total estrogens (code 439X) > > test measures E1 (estrone)+ E2 (estradiol). > > > > If someone has both their estradiol and total estrogen levels > > measured, can we assume that total estrogens - estradiol = estrone? > > > > Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated, > > o > > You can view a description of Quest's tests online: > > http://www.questdiagnostics.com/hcp/intguide/EndoMetab/EndoManual_3rdEd_2004.pdf > > Brad
Guest guest
No Total E is all 3 of them if you just have E2 measured it does not = E1 ther are Diff. Here is a link on DIM and how it works but shows about Estrogens. http://www.dimfaq.com/site/diagram.htm Phil robertillo75 <roberto_meza75@...> wrote: Ok, so by looking at Quest's Total Estrogens test, it says that the assay measures E1 and E2. Guest guest
Hi Phil: But, isn't estriol mainly found in the placenta, with very small amounts in males? So, if you have both estradiol and total estrogen levels measured, wouldn't Total estrogens-estradiol give you a very good approximation of your estrone levels? Let's say that your estradiol levels are 30 pg/ml and your total estrogens 200 pg/ml. By doing some calculations, shouldn't your estrone levels be very close to 170 pg/ml? Thanks, o > > > Hi: > > > > > > Does the total estrogens test for males measures estradiol + estrone, > > > since estriol is mainly found in the placenta? > > > > > > If I remember well, Quest Diagnostic's total estrogens (code 439X) > > > test measures E1 (estrone)+ E2 (estradiol). > > > > > > If someone has both their estradiol and total estrogen levels > > > measured, can we assume that total estrogens - estradiol = estrone? > > > > > > Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated, > > > o > > > > You can view a description of Quest's tests online: > > > > > http://www.questdiagnostics.com/hcp/intguide/EndoMetab/EndoManual_3rdEd_2004.pdf > > > > Brad > > > > > > > > --------------------------------- >
Guest guest
I think I read that estradiol was about 1000 times more powerful that the other estrogens per unit. Dr. Shippen is looking at all the E's now. My E2 is back in the male range, from being in the low end of the female range. My testosterone is in the male range now, it was in the high end of the female range. Big difference in everything. New tests this month to see if they have stabilized. > > > > Hi: > > > > > > > > Does the total estrogens test for males measures estradiol + > estrone, > > > > since estriol is mainly found in the placenta? > > > > > > > > If I remember well, Quest Diagnostic's total estrogens (code 439X) > > > > test measures E1 (estrone)+ E2 (estradiol). > > > > > > > > If someone has both their estradiol and total estrogen levels > > > > measured, can we assume that total estrogens - estradiol = estrone? > > > > > > > > Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated, > > > > o > > > > > > You can view a description of Quest's tests online: > > > > > > > > > http://www.questdiagnostics.com/hcp/intguide/EndoMetab/EndoManual_3rdE d_2004.pdf > > > > > > Brad > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > >
Guest guest
Hi gin2c: I read that also. Estriol is one-thousand fold less potent than estradiol. Can you post your E2 results along with the reference ranges please? Thanks, o > > > > > Hi: > > > > > > > > > > Does the total estrogens test for males measures estradiol + > > estrone, > > > > > since estriol is mainly found in the placenta? > > > > > > > > > > If I remember well, Quest Diagnostic's total estrogens (code > 439X) > > > > > test measures E1 (estrone)+ E2 (estradiol). > > > > > > > > > > If someone has both their estradiol and total estrogen levels > > > > > measured, can we assume that total estrogens - estradiol = > estrone? > > > > > > > > > > Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated, > > > > > o > > > > > > > > You can view a description of Quest's tests online: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > http://www.questdiagnostics.com/hcp/intguide/EndoMetab/EndoManual_3rdE > d_2004.pdf > > > > > > > > Brad > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > >
