Guest guest
Hi, Yes depression is a symptom of low T. You need to get to an endocrinologist instead of letting your GP treat you as he is taking his advice from pharmaceutical companies interested more in selling their expensive products. Formal endocrinology training is essential and most doctors do not have it. You need to be treated by an experienced doctor that treats andorpause. What part of the country are you in? I travel from upstate NY to GA every 4 months to see a specialist, Dr. Grambrell, Augusta GA. Even when your T level is the best for you, you still have a big problem with the emotional challenges of marriage that have to be coped with. I suggest you get a couselor ASAP even though your hormones are in the toilet. ernestnolan > I found out about you through pmgamer in the Web MD boards. Guest guest
Thanks for your advice! I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. About the marriage issue with my wife's confesion, when I am " sane " I do not have a problem with it. I am going through a cycle of depression that starts when I wake up. I apply the Androgel around 8 am. I am a mess for about 5 or 6 hours, then I have my moments where I am " normal " , then the ruminating about my wife's confession starts and brings me back down. As the day progresses, depending on my interaction with my wife, I may get better (if we do not fight about our past). Then the cycle starts the next day. That is the way it has been since last Tuesday. Right now we just came back from a pool party at a friend's house. From time to time I had the start up of the " bad " emotions. PMGAMER e-mailed me some relaxation techniques and they really worked. Everytime I felt it coming, I applied them and in about a minute or so everything was fine. I had to do it several times though. I also ordered the book by Dr. Shippen " The testosterone syndrome " . If I have to go out of state to see a specialist for this, I will do it. I definitely do not want to continue living like this, or worse, lose my wife and daughter. Thanks! > > I found out about you through pmgamer in the Web MD boards. Guest guest
Flaco, This mess WILL get straightened out. You know your family is your first priority. You know how important your wife is to you. The Latino/Hispanic attitudes may affect you, but you're not a slave to them. (If you were, you wouldn't discuss these issues with anyone. You'd more likely deny them even to yourself.) You will work this out. (When I've had angry disputes with my wife and couldn't find the words, a long hug said a lot.) Medically, I would (1) Consult the doctor who did the Remeron treatment. He will probably start you back on it or something comparable. (If there wasn't so much going on I might suggest trying to reduce depression by regulating T.) (2) You've already corrected your Androgel dosage. T levels (and other tests) should be done in several weeks. There may be related hormone issues to be checked and managed. I don't know your doctor's experience in male hormone issues. It may be that you should see a specialist. Let us know what state you live in, and we'll try to supply a list. Best, Bruce > I found out about you through pmgamer in the Web MD boards. Guest guest
Bruce: Thanks for your advice! The Remeron dosage I am taking is more for insomnia (15 mg/day), one of the effects of the depression. Right now it is controlling that (30 days and counting). I honestly believe Remeron is not going to help me in the long run. When my doctor found my low T levels for the first time and put me on Androgel, the change in me was incredible (never the Remeron made me feel that great!). I already printed a list of endocrinologists in my area from my insurance company. I definitely welcome any referals (I live in Cincinnati, Ohio). About the Latino/Hispanic issue, only affects me when I am depressed (as when I wrote the first post). Right now I feel much better and looking forward to tackle this condition and keep my family together. The Latino/Hispanic thing, I laugh at it right now! Thanks! Guest guest
Hi, Dr. Gambrell has a web site: http://www.members.aol.com/gambr999/ Dr. Gambrell has been treating andropause, male menopause, for several decades which is very rare. Most doctors have gotten interested in hormone therapy in the last few years taking their training from pharmaceutical reps. They are prone to under dosages which leave the patient with no real benefit. They will not recommend hormone pellets which INHO is the best form of therapy. Every 4 months you go in for additional pellets. We just got back from GA this last weekend. ernestnolan " The Testosterone Syndrome " , Dr. Eugene Shippen, $14.95 at and Noble is essential reading for anyone interested in hormone replacement therapy. ernestnolan > > > I found out about you through pmgamer in the Web MD boards.
