Guest guest
Hi Randy, Your testosterone is looking good to me. But your lipids are another matter. Your good protective HDL is extremely low, I would imagine your most protective marker, your HDL2 subfraction would be dangerously low. Your triglycerides and LDL are rather high, have you had your thyroid checked? If not that, are you on a low fat diet or eat a lot of grains (bread, cookies, crackers, bagels, pretezels, Raisin Bran, etc? That can really ruin your HDL, you should be including high dose fish oil, with olive oil on your salad, eat lots of vegetables and protein, etc. That will bring down your triglycerides and raise your HDL, so much so you will be stunned. Start paying attention to how much sugar is in the things you eat. You';d be surprised. I thought I was eating healthy - breakfast was yogurt, whole grain cereal, and OJ. I found out the yogurt had 8 teaspoons of sugar, the cereal had 4, and the OH another 5! I looked for low sugar foods and in a matter of weeks my Trig dropped by over half. (I also effortlessly dropped 10 pounds in the first month.)
Guest guest
I feel great! Thanks for asking and my girlfriend wants a nite off, so wood is pure OAK these days!! I do get the itch and we have so far assumed it had to be stress but that would also affect my BP which has never been off by more than 3 or 4 points from a perfect 120/80. Stopped the gym for the summer but should start back after labor day when school starts for my son and I have to get him there for 7:30 and have 90 minutes to burn before work. Will go to 3 days on weights and 2 on cardio as of then I took an appointment to see the vampires on Sept 5th and will repeat every 8 weeks now That should only leave my lipids as an issue Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Labs are back Date: Sunday, August 24, 2008, 1:07 PM After 6 months of treatment my labs are back and the results are as follows: Total T: 719.0 (240-950) Up from 221 Free T: 31.6 (9-30) up from 2.1 PSA: 0.7 ( 0-4.0) Estradiol 38.0 (20-75) WBC 6.6 (4.5-9.5) RBC 5.6 (4.6-6.2) HGB 17.5 (13.5-18.0) Up from 15.3 HCT 50.5 (40-54) up from 45.7 MCV 90.0 (80-94) MCH 31.0 (27-31) MCHC 35.0 (33-37) RDW 12.8 (13.1-15.3) MPV 7.7 (8.5-9.9) PLT 250.0 (150-400) NA 140.0 (135-145) K 4.2 (3.5-4.1) CL 102.0 (95-108) CO2 27.3 (22-33) GLU 95.0 (70-139) BUN 13.0 (8-28) Chol Tot 257.0 (0-200) up from 229 Trig 179.0 (50-165) HDL 30.0 (29-165) up from 25 LDL 191.0 (70-205) up from 178 TP 7.6 (6.0-8.0) CA 10.1 (8.5-10.5) ALK 84.0 (30-115) SGPT 54.0 (6-40) Stable but high SGOT 37.0 (7-40) TBIL 1.4 (0-1.4) Cre .8 (.8-1.2) Bun/Cre 16.0 (10-20) Albumin 4.6 (3.0-5.0) Alb/Glob 1.5 (1.1-1.8) Doctor is diagnosing slight liver issues and possible polycythemia because of the increase in HGB and HCT. I understand that this can be a common issue with some folks, and it is worse on cyp than on gels. I am a smoker so I smoked my last cig about an hour ago (I've quit before I'll do it again!) and I also understand that some folks do what is called theraputic phlebotomy (give blood regularly) in order to cope with the poly. I've also read that taking a blood thinner such as naproxet is an additional approach. My girlfriend is a MAJOR fan of homeopathic medecin, thus a trip to the natural food and supplement store yesterday had me pick up several things including DimSum, Gaba, Milk Thistle, Beta- Sitosterol, " Liver Care " (a collection of herbs??) and Omega 3 fatty acids. She has banned me from buying beef unless it is hormone and antibiotic free, and then only once a month, egg beaters, fat free half and half, and tons of chicken and turkey... Add a return to the gym since summer os over (3 days cardio only 3 days resistance training), and I'm hoping to turn most of this around in 3 months or so. From the above, does anyone see anything else I should be paying attention to?? Is there anything else I should be doing?? I'm already making some fairly major lifestyle alterations May as well get them all in at once. Thanks in advance folks Randy

Guest guest
Hi , Cardiologist Dr. has another website as well, that would be www.trackyourplaque.com He charges a modest fee for membership, just enough to cover bandwidth and for someone to maintain the website, I think they billed me $19 bucks about six months ago! He sells nothing, although he has a paperback book by the same title, also for a modest fee. One advantage for having a membership is that he and many of the posters will answer questions about diet, medications, niacin, fish oil and fats. That PHD that has the blog I posted yesterday, " G " is her name, regularly posts there as well on their " forum " . The conversation is at a very high level. Some of the threads are simply amazing. Where else can you pick the brain of a board certified cardiologist that is up on the latest medical advancements and practices prevention??!! One of the posters, Slim, has lost a great deal of weight incorperating the dietary changes that we have been talking about here. Here is his story. http://heartscanblog.blogspot.com/2008/03/flying-in-fog.html Hope this helps, sorry the links are fragmented, sucks that way. Hope you can paste them back together. Guest guest
I got them. I will have to check it out. Thanks! I am down 40lbs. so far with a modified low carb diet. It is definitely helping everything else with me. It is modified for me by me so that I can enjoy it the rest of my life and not make it a labor to temporarily lose weight. A diet needs to be a just that, a diet, and not a temporary pain in the back side just to get your weight down. That was my problem before. I was always all in and just toughed it out. Of course the weight all came back and more. I am eating way less carbs to help with the lipids, eating more vegetables which includes using a juicer(above ground vegetables only)Â at least 5 days a week for breakfast, and have a cheat day every week.
