False Arguments

Hi List,

Sometimes you get an objection that tests or clinical

trials of unproven therapies are unnecessary. It's

HealthWatch, a British non-profit newsletter (summer

edition, 1992) that sums up these objections so

eloquently:

" There are three false arguments used to claim trials

are unnecessary for certain types of treatment.

1. If patients feel better after the treatment,

nothing else matters.

2. Trials of truly holistic treatment are impossible:

there can never be a control patient with whom the

result can be compared because each patient is

different and the treatment is tailored to the

individual.

3. Clinical trials cost huge sums of money which small

independent practitioners cannot afford. "

All the very best,

Rob
