Guest guest
Hi everyone: I just thought that someone might be able to give me their opinion on this. I just got back my latest blood test results. And I was really thrilled with the results. I have been off of tapazole now for over three months now and feeling pretty well. I still have problems with being tired, and a few other problems too. I have noticed that I have begun to put on weight also, which is not that common for me. My last blood tests all of the thyroid levels were fine except for one. the t4, t3 uptake, and FTI were all within normal range. However, the tsh level was still <.03 with the ranges being .35 - 5.50. So I knew that I was not perfect, but this is the first time in over three years that all of the other levels came out normal. So I called my doctor cause he was gonna tell me whether or not he wants me to go back onto the medication again. The front desk receptionist says that he wants to see me, which means he wants me to go back on the meds. He would have told me on the phone to continue what I was doing if that was the case. I am so discouraged. Does anyone have any info regarding the levels of TSH and what is dangerous. Is a level of <.03 still a severe amount of hyper thyroidism? Please, I would appreciate anyones input on this. thanks

Since your T4 and T3 just recently dropped into the normal levels, the pituitary has probably not sensed a sufficient drop to begin producing TSH again. More than likely it will begin to rise in the next few months. Because each person's normal range for thyroid parameters (T3, T4, and TSH) are different the blood tests aren't absolute in predicting your thyroid status. Many people feel that how the person feels is a more accurate indicator. If your hyper symptoms are declining and you've been off tapazole for 3 months now, then I would consider that good evidence that you are heading in the right direction. Taking tapazole now might push you into the hypo range and exacerbate your symptoms of low energy and weight gain. Did you go off the tapazole on your own or your doctor's recommendation? What was your TSH three months ago when you went off? Are you comfortable exercising yet?
Guest guest
Hi : Thanks for responding. When I first went off the tapazole my levels were much worse. The TSH was the same which was <.03 but the other three wer all high. The T4 was 16.8 and the range is 4.5-12.0. My T3 was 42 and the range is 24-39. My FTI was 7.0 and the range is 1.2 - 4.9. So at the point I went off the tapazole all of my levels were out of whack, and now the only thing off is the TSH which tested the same. The other three have all fallen into the normal range. So for what thats worth, I don't know, He is going to insist that I go back on the meds. The problem that I am having is that my menstrual cycle has changed and lasts now for two weeks at a time. My gynecologist won't even start to do tests until my endocrinoligist says that my thyroid is with in normal range

Guest guest
At my clinic here are what they consider normal ranges: ..02-5.5 TSH FTI 130-370 T4 4.1-12.2 If you're gaining weight that usually doesn't indicate that you're really hyper..but the tiredness would suggest that there's something not quite right. How is your pulse rate?? It is also possible to be sub-clinically HyperT..that is, you have no symptoms, but the blood tests indicates HypterT (low TSH). Some doctors are concerned about irregular heart rhythms...such as the one former President Bush used to have, which you can have if you are clincially or sub-clinically HyperT. But even if you have to go back on the meds, it's no big deal..as long as you're taking a low dosage and 's supplements. Then you can watch your blood tests and see when it's time to stop taking the medication again. Good luck.

That means your pituitary isn't needing to put out any Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH). The autoimmune thing is still active but not enough to make your thyroid hormones high. That's my best guess. I had low TSH for a long time but it finally came up to normal. Best of luck, Ann
Guest guest
I got the results back from my most recent blood test taken 3-11-05. I'm dissapointed in the results. I thought since I really bottomed back out a few days before this test was taken that something might show up. Blood Test 3-11-05 39 year old male Thyroid Profile T3 Uptake 30.5 % Range 28.0-41.0 T4 Total 9.07 ug/dL Range 5.1-14.1 F.T.I. 2.8 Range 1.1-4.4 TSH 2.320ulU/ml Range 0.40-4.20 Prolactin 8.85ng/mL Range 1.61-18.77 FSH 3.24mlU/mL Range 1.0-8.0 IGF1 247ng/ml Range 114-492 DHEA S 117mcg/dl Range 59-452 DHT 73ng/dl Range 25-75 Testosterone Total 606ng/dl Range 236-1076 Free Testosterone Percentage 1.26% Range 1.0-3.1 Free Testosterone 76.6pg/ml Range 31.0-160.0 Apparently the lab either did not run E2 Estradiol or the lab tech forgot to ask for it. I have not heard back from Dr.'s office yet. If they did not then I will have to go back to get that run by itself. It seems like this last year and a half has been wasted.I feel like I'm at the lowest point right now since all this happened two and a half years ago. Guest guest
Hi, As you probably know 2.74 is still too high- over90% of healthy folk have a TSH of around 1.0 [mailto:thyroid treatment ] On Behalf Of jdn5764 Had another tsh blood test last week. 2.74 (range 0.5 - 4.2) outcome yet again " normal " no action needed. I have t3 and t4 done, but I can't get that result for some reason. I'm now going to start to refuse blood tests as thats all I seem to do. ------------------------------------ TPA is not medically qualified.
