I had forgotten Lucas had put forums as part of his website-

The thread grouping is much friendlier. I would be interested in

migrating to the hypogonadismus website especially if it is going to

be stable and stay online. (Speaking as a non-classical (I think)

member).

Hope this link comes through OK but here's another support board /

forum laid out very well.

http://forum.mesomorphosis.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9

Unfortunately I would imagine that the betteer laid out forums (with

their better organization and whistles and bells would require a

sponsor)....

Chis_az,

You are probably reading your messages as " email " or " expanded " form.

Edit your membership and choose " No email " and read your messages

under www. in " summary " form. That's the most

organized way of reading groups messages.

That is how I read my messages currently.

In a previous life I used to be a designer of certain computer

products and have designed menus and navigation systems etc.

I know that when it comes to usability/navigation the user is never

at fault.

It is a classic mistake of many designers to say the end user

doesn't get it, is stupid or needs to do xyz.

The fact is good design is obvious, never needs explaining, is

intuitive and just feels right.

This applies to everything from a remote control for a TV set to an

internet forum.

This forum doesn't have any hierarchical structure or thread based

structure, It is incredibly basic and painful to use.

I could list dozens of problems with it, but would instead suggest

you view other forums and the various formats out there so you can

see how truly poor the functionality of this forum is.

This lack of functionality adversely impacts upon the correspondence

of the people posting here and makes it more difficult for people to

help one another.

For this reason I am saying;

Can we get a new format for the forum?

Yes or No?

There is a Thread view which may or may not be to your satisfaction.

We rely on the infrastructure provided by Groups. It is not

within my power to change that infrastructure.

Well a thread view on the site would at least be something.

Can you tell me how to select this option Brad?

One the main Message index screen (ie select " Messages " on the left

hand menu) There is an area at the top left corner of the message area.

Options are:

View: Simple | Summary | Expanded

As: Msg List | Thread

The thread option is what I was referring to.

Perhaps there's a way to start a new thread from OE, but I

haven't figured it out yet.-----

To send a message to this forum from a private email account, enter

the title of your new thread in the subject line and

in the address (to:) line.

Thanks, .-----

No problem. :-)

has a nasty habit of suddenly deleting a long message that you

have painstakenly written, when you hit the send button, or just

before. I send messages on site but I compose them in notepad and

copy them into 's window.
