Guest guest
What is the cause of your hypo? Do you have hemochromatosis or liver disease? From what i gather HCG is not metabolized in the liver...does anyone if theres any info i can bring so i can show her? Also...should i be worried about my elevated enzymes and hold off on the HCG treatment? Guest guest
Go to the files section and download the guidelines on hypogonadism. The guidelines list common causes of hypo. Work with your Dr. to rule out each cause. This all started when i took propecia and a herbal hairloss drug and all hell broke lose. I'm not even sure i am hypo because i never took any hormone blood test before using those drugs. The only thing i know for certain is that my T levels have since has never been higher than in the 300s with ref range 260- 1000. Unfortunately i dont have any baselines. Also i took a full metabolic profile prior to using any of the hairloss drugs and my liver back then was very normal. ALT was 23 with range 2-60 and AST was 23 with range 2-50. But ever since session of the drugs my liver enzymes have been increasing every time i take the test. And i dont drink and have a very normal diet and sleep and i'm only 26yo so i'm at a loss. Any body have a similar experience?

My numbers were as follows: (if u guys > notice my ALT has been steadily increasing and this worries me) I don't recall ever reading about liver concerns with HCG. I understand that elevated liver enzymes are a serious concern that should be investigated. I also gather that in some cases, even after exhaustive tests, the cause is unknown and people live normal lives without any effects/complications. I suspect that after the elevated liver enzyme issue is explored, you'll still need TRT if your T is too low. I don't see why HCG would be ruled out due to elevated liver enzymes. In any event, you'll probably need to continue to monitor liver enzymes regardless of which form of TRT you choose.
Guest guest
Have you made any other changes in your meds or life in general over the last year? Have you actually started the HCG, or is all this happening before you have started that? Mark

Guest guest
This has all started happening before i even started on any treatments. And no not much has changed in my life, i only drink and smoke socially which in itself is a rareity so i'm POSITIVE its not that. Plus i had normal liver enzymes prior to starting on propecia and Saw palmetto. I am 100% convinced that its caused by those drugs. I'm willing to bet my life on that. > > Have you made any other changes in your meds or life in general over > the last year? Guest guest
Well, at least your liver enzymes aren't very high yet. Looked like one test was only mildly elevated. Mine sometimes run twice normal, but I have a history of liver problems from severe EBV hepatitis. They go up and down over time. Yours could be fluctuating as well - it is possible that the tests just happen to hit when they are higher. Of course the overall pattern is in the upward direction, so it does bear further investigation. But from what I've seen most docs won't get too awful excited if they are mildly elevated; but that may be because of my history. I would try to find a doc who is knowledgeable about the side-effects of these hair-loss drugs. Sounds like a lot of people have had problems with them.
