Guest guest
An erection isn't all physical. There is a mental element as well. Maybe when you're awake you have anxiety about it and this interferes with you getting a good erection. During sleep, this would not be a factor. That's my theory... Guest guest
Myclassic, Nocturnal erections (NEs) and morning erections, what I call piss hard ons are on their own mission. Here are two reasonably good sites discussing NEs... http://www.health.harvard.edu/medline/Men/N0200b.html http://webmd.lycos.com/content/article/1687.50697 Piss hardons are defined succintly in this site... http://www.sleepmedservices.com/101questions/sex.html " The relationship between REM sleep and erections is also the reason that men frequently wake up in the morning with an erection without having any particular desire to engage in sexual activity. There is a commonly held, but incorrect, belief that morning erections are due to a full urinary bladder. This belief really makes no sense. For example, men do not get erections during the day before urination. The correct explanation for morning erections involves the way nighttime sleep is organized. We have most of our REM sleep in the early morning, usually between 4 - 7 AM. Therefore, each morning we are very likely to awaken directly from REM sleep or, at the very least, soon after a long REM period has ended. Thus, men are very likely to awaken in the morning with a REM sleep-relatederection. " Men with erectile dysfunction (ED) if its psychogenic/performance anxiety, they will have NEs. Generally this type ED is very amenable to Viagra. If this is interfering with partner sex....I would suggest you consult with your doctor. Pfizer provides doctors with ample Viagra samples. The fact that you do have NEs and piss hard ons shows that your plumbing is working ok. Good luck, OR eon > I have problems getting erections due to low test levels and > hypogonadism. Guest guest
Thanks for the info. So my plumbing isnt broke if I get nocturnal erections? I really have a hard time laying fault on psychological factors. I can understand having " performance anxiety " and having difficulty with erections. But I cannot understand why at any given time of day, even if I am having a great day, I never get spontaneous erections. I can be driving down the road and start thinking of sex, or look at visual images or recall past sex experiences, and I know I should become aroused, but I don't. It should happen at least once in a while, but it never does for me anymore. How does psychological have that much affect on me? I certainly have no performance anxiety if I am just thinking about sex. A few years ago all I had to do was look at an attractive girl and I easily obtained an erection. Nowadays I could have Miss America sit naked on my lap and I would still have no reaction below the belt. Yes, viagra helps, but I hate it. Makes me flushed and gives headaches. I don't want to rely on that to get me going. I want to get to the bottom of things. If I am underestimating the psychological piece of it, how do I get treatment for that? a sex therapist? I really can't see how sitting on some shrinks couch and telling he or she I have trouble getting erections is going to fix the problem. Any thoughts????? > > I have problems getting erections due to low test levels and > > hypogonadism. I almost never get spontanteous erections during the > > day. Guest guest
My Classic, Those were just some suggestions...now for a few more. If I recall correctly, without having to go back to your original post in this thread, you mentioned your testosterone was low. How low? Here's a table giving optimal testosterone levels by age... http://www.alt-support-impotence.org/hormone_charts.htm What about your other sex hormones? Estrogen, estradiol, free test, %free & weakly bound testosterone and sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG)? At a minimum each time I have my sex hormones measured, I always have first four run, from results of those I can generally estimate what SHBG level will be. You didn't state your age. You did state that just ~several years ago, you had day spontaneous erections. Changes in our body do occur and generally over a period of time. My hormones are balanced well now...results from last two bleeds of 12-5-01 and 3-11-02...it's hard for me to post columnar data in this format but I think you can figure it out. 12-5-01 - 29 dy 3-11-02 - 96 dy Tests Serum 750 704 (241- 827) %Free & Weak 47.7 37.6 (18.3 - 62.3) F & W bound 357.7 264.7 (66.6 - 276.3) Estradiol 50 16 (0-54) Estrogen 124 44 (40 - 115) If anything my estrogen/estradiol are too low so I have cut Arimidex dosing back to two days on 1 mg Arimides and one day off; I tried eod and that didn't work for me. I'm 64, my primary hypogonadism comes from HIV infection. Most of my orgasms are cybersex generated...my erectile responses are variable. I use Trimix to inject my cock when I have occasional sexual partner....that gives me a 2 hr nonbendable erection...takes all anxiety away...am I gonna get my cock up, can I keep my cock up, etc. In the evening when I'm kicking back my cock/nuts get real fleshy and get a little firms. I've not had a day spontaneous erection in years and accept it as normal part of agin. Guest guest
sorry I left out some info. i don't have all the numbers you are looking for but I will tell you some. I am 31. Too damn young to be walking around with limp dick. Last year was found to have test level of 135, this found after complaining of fatigue, ED,etc. Went to urologist and he put me on Androgel. Said I had primary hypogonadism. After a couple of months on androgel, got tested again and this time test was 335 and LH was 1.4. He said LH was normal, strange for primary he said. I decided to go to and endro, and he ran other tests (cortisol, prolactin, thyroid) plus had an MRI of pituitiary. MRI was ok as were all test results. He found nothing abnormal and had no answer for my ED. He said it was depression. I decided for myself to ask for a lab to get a sperm count. It was zero! I continued on androgel for a couple of more months, then decided I wanted one more opinion. Found a new urologist, a young gun right out of Boston Univ. I made an appt and stopped the androgel so I would go in " clean " . I was off for a month before my appt finally rolled around. Had a second sperm count done before I went because I knew he would want at least two tests of that nature. Once again zero. Had test level measured again, it had dropped back down to 143. He was at the point where I would have to go to Boston for a biopsy to see why I am producing no sperm. He said before that, he wanted to run one more test, this time for LSH. Looking through all my records he did not see that had been tested. Why the first urologist and the endro did not test for this I will never know. Yesterday I go back in for the results of that thinking it would be high and my next step was Boston. What a surprise when my LH was 0.5 and my FSH 0.37, both below normal which is a sign of secondary, not primary. So he concludes that I have secondary hypo. Before I got my hopes up, I asked to get another FSH and LH testing, to rule out lab error. If it comes back low again, as expected, then I will be looking at Hormone therapy. This is why you get second and third opinions, people, too many doctors are knuckleheads. what kind of an endrocronologist would not test for FSH? mine, thats who. All these past months I have been concentrating on researching primary hypo, now I have to go back and look at the secondary postings. Too bad this new format has virtually stopped me from being able to navigate through multiple postings without taking 4 hours for the page to come up. Yes, this new format sucks! Thanks Oreon, for you words.............. > > > > I have problems getting erections due to low test levels and > > > > hypogonadism. Guest guest
I think this is just the low test levels. You aren't having erections because your libido is in the basement. Keep working on getting the test level up. Push it up well past the lower threshold if necessary. Libido isn't so much a factor for nocturnal erections. I'll bet once your libido is online again you'll have no further trouble with erections. Take care Brad > > > I have problems getting erections due to low test levels and > > > hypogonadism.
