Guest guest
oreon... if i remember correctly ur on a pretty low dose of test. right? about 100 mg a wk...maybe even less....? please refresh my memory. i take 300 mg a wk....and when i get tested my test level is around 850ng/dl....or there abouts....and my est. level is at the high end of normal....i am not sure....like on a range from 18-40 mine is around 35....so my doc did not prescribe it to me and said that instead if i were having symptoms of too much estrogen he might instead lower my test---but i don't want or need my test lowered!!! i have certain problems that relate to est. surplus....the inability to lose fat....no matter what i do....fat distribution....a libido that is sometimes off sometimes on....more often that not its off.... i started taking dim and that seemed to work for a while but now it no longer seems effective.... so i don't know what to do.... confused in cali, rude

Check: http://qualitycounts.com/fparomatization.html Though a commercial site that also promotes several different products it also has a very good News and Research section about aromatization. Guest guest
Rudeskin, I haven't been ignoring this post of yours....it's been weighing on my mind....but I knew that I would have very recent lab data, which I got Friday, March 7th. I'll make a post tomorrow. What I write about now....I hope that you have your method for receiving posts set for individual emails " ...I like well aligned columns and what I'm posting seems to come out like that....I set it up in Word Perfect. In contrast, when it goes into message archive and if you read messages at our site....then material is mis-aligned. Guest guest
Rudeskin, I switched from injecting 100 mg/wk Depo first August 2001....I was experiencing too much T > E conversion...I started on 10 G/dy AndroGel an I also began 1 mg/dy Arimidex. My estrogen/estradiol values over time Estradiol is first column of figures and estrogen second column. Estradiol ref range for lab corps for men is (<54) 6-4-01.........................82...........................134 (40-115) 7-9-00.........................55..............................200 8-2-01.........................87..............................198 Began 1 mg/dy Arimidex 9-29-01.......................37................................85 Began 1 mg Arimidex eod 11-2-01.......................59................................101 Resumed 1 mg Arimidex/dy 12-5-01.......................50.................................124 3-11-02.......................16..................................44 As some members here have reported....I tried dropping my Arimidex dose to 1 mg eod...that didn't work for me. Perhaps age is a factor...I was 63 when I went on Arimidex. Now the test of this post.... Test 2-25-03 12-11-02 9-12-02 Ref Range Testost., serum 922 489 831 241-827 Testost.%F & WB 35.4 45.6 46.9 18.3 - 62.3 Testost. F & WBound 326.3 166.2 389.7 66.6 - 276.2 Testost, Free Direct 45.6 19.3 - 62.3 Estradiol 41 41 56 <54 Estrogens, total 75 57 55 40 - 115 DHEA 596 223 82 -338 60-69 yo SHBG 43 34 13 - 71 T/E2 ratio 22.4 11.9 14.8 When I received copy of lab results from bled of 9-12-02...I cut AndroGel dose back to 7.5 G/dy to try and slow T > E conversion....I tried to apply ~5 G/dy to my nuts, but don't think that I was always that conscientious. Before my next bled on 12-11-02.....I noted that I was becoming fatigued in afternoon and that my nocturnal erections (NEs) and piss hardons (PHs) were not that consistent. All my lab values for 12-11-02 bled were within ref range. I resumed 10 G/Androgel. My NEs and PHs resumed. From this I think that I function optimally at a higher T level, particularly higher bT (bioavailable). I've now been on Arimidex for 19 months with no untoward side effects. First of May I no longer qualify for Texas Risk pool insurance when I turn 65. AndroGel and probably Arimidex will be beyond my budget. I've bought two 10 ml Vials Depo before the " annual unavailable " period when I was injecting 100 mg weekly previously. Blood collected 8th day after last injection of 100 mg Depo-Testosterone on... June 4th '01 .. . .Testosterone .. . . . . .Total . . . . . . . . 989 (241 - 827) .. . . . . Free. . . . . . . . .42.0 (6.6 - 18.1) July 9th '01 .. . . . ..Total . . . . . . . . .774 .. . . . . OR eon 65 yo HIV+ GayMan Now crossing my fingers as I click on send that columns of lab values stay aligned for members receiving messages via email...I think numbers will be mis-aligned in message archives. Guest guest
oreon, thank u for your reply ot os always great to get as much info as one can and to see how the other men are doing....even though my e2 are usually in the 40's range i still think i need arimidex....i have trouble with getting lean....i carry most of my fat around the chest, gut, hips....my morning wood isn't that consistent....neither is my drive and i have just begun to take wellbutrin, which is supposed to increase it or at the very least not hamper it....lets just say i have a lot of symptoms....how can i convince my doc to give me arimidex? i ynderstand that now elevated estrogens are now what they consider to be the cause of things like heart disease in men as well as prostate cancer....i want to avoid all these things as well as finally have a sexual peak, ya know what i mean....any advice on how to convince my doc would be helpful.... thank u rude p.s. and how much would be a good dose to suggest? Guest guest
What numbers did you use to calculate the testosterone/estrogen ratio, and do they have the same units? What do you consider to be a good T/E ratio? If I calculated mine correctly it's approx. 16, but I may not be using numbers with the same units. You might see if you'll qualify for Medicaid when you turn 65. Here in Iowa Medicaid pays for androgel. Thanks! Guest guest
Thanks for your reply. First off...I would not qualify for Medicaid...I go on Medicare soon. At Alt.Support Impotence NG...a frequent poster posted recently that Medicare Part B covers various testosterone forms for treating hypogonadism varies by regions. He has testosterone pellets implanted every ~3-4 months and majority of cost is covered....that's a minor, outclient procedure. In our links section here....Wolverfan added the following link T to E2 Ratio and T Gel Effects Study [NL]Good study and info about hormone ratios and benefits of T gel [NL]http://www.familypractice.com/journal/abfpjournal_frame.htm?main=/journa l/2001/v14.n01/1401.04/art-1401.04.htm wolverfan Once you open the page...scroll down quite a ways until you see Table 3 " Table 3 displays the results for changes in total androgen levels, the total androgen-estradiol ratio, " " Normal ratios of total androgen-estradiol are defined as being between 10 to 22.[27] " I know....it's confusing not to convert so that units of both testosterone and estradiol are the same....but apparently you don't. It will work if you add the text of the bottom line (black) to the top line (blue) in your browser window. Just click on the 1st line and when it returns with the " File not found " message, add the 2nd line to what already exists in the browser window. The last word in the 1st line is " journal " - the 1st character in the 2nd line is the " l " for " journal " .
