Dear Dano:

I don't think it is unreasonable for your partner to want a good relationship

with his doctor. We place our lives in the hands of these people and want to

have some kind of positive feedback from them. I have a pretty good

relationship with my GI, but it's run hot and cold over the years. There are

times when I think of him as a friend, and others when I think of him as my

worst enemy.

I don't know about other countries, but here in the United States, there are

so many doctors that are rude and insensitive and act like it is just so much

of a hassle to have to deal with you. Then there are those that show

compassion and empathy. The skill level seems to have little to do with

attitude. I think that the biggest problem is that a lot of these doctors

cease to think of patients as people. We are charts and blood test results.

When we have the nerve to actually ask a question, they get all bent out of

shape like, " Oh...it speaks! "

I don't know if your partner can choose his own doctor, but if he can, I

definitely think he needs a change. Sometimes you just have to keep looking

until you find someone willing to be human. I hope that things start going

better for him soon. This is a great group. It has been so helpful for me.

I hope you are able to find some solutions. Good luck, and welcome to the

group.

Hello groupThis is Dano from florida. I have updated in a while. I was sleeved 12 4 08 and after a rapid weight loss in the beggining things slowed down a bit but I was going thru the phase of getting settled into my sleeve. Now I'm loosing 2 to 5 lbs a week and it depends on my intake choices. My entire way about thinking about food has changed. I don't crave a lot of things that I used to eat on a daily basis. I don't even think of things I used to eat becuse I know my restrictions now. Saying that there was a period for about 2 weeks that I was overeating and learning what to do and not to do. Now my body is learning how to eat without me thinking that much about it. I guess my eyes are not bigger than my stomic anymore. I still haven't told 1 person about my surgery and in glad that I dident. When I am asked how I am loosing weight I simply say that I eat less. I feel super and my whole life has changed. I wish I would have done this years ago. Staying up on the protian drinks and very little sugar. When I consume sugar products weight loss comes to a screeching halt. I'm down 55 lbs and still loosing every day. Good luck to youall. Hi Dano,

The things you say sound a lot like the things I have said and feel. I look at food differently too, your eyes are always a lot bigger than your stomach, and we really have to train ourselves to re-thinking our eating. This surgery affected more than just my stomach and that is great.

Congratulation on your great weight loss. I am very proud of you and what you are doing. It is entirely up to you when you want to tell people or not tell people. This is your story and your journey. I have told a lot of people. My reason to tell is I want to get rid of the fears of weight loss surgery and I want them to see how healthy and well I am doing. For me it is a way to educate other people that this is normal and safe and they may want to consider it. I NEVER tell someone this is what they should do. I only give them the information of what I had done and how safe it was and how it has allowed me to start to achieve my goal in time.

Take care, and keep being good to yourself.. You have earned that right and deserve to have it ALL.
