Phil,

Good for you. Arimidex does not seem to work real well for me so my

Doc has me on Femera. Working out real well for me.

Did you ask him how Avodart was supposed to lower estradiol? To my

knowledge it is a 5AR drug like proscar. I would be interested to

know what the estradiol lowering mechanism of action is thought to be.

More people seem disappointed rather than pleased with DIM or at least

that was the impression I was left with from old messages. I thought

the Evista was supposed to block estradiol at the receptor instead of

blocking aromatase. If so, you wouldn't expect a change in blood levels.

I suspect that arimidex for men is too rarely prescribed to have yet

hit BCBS's radar screen.

Since your test level is slightly above the reference range, I am not

sure we should be surprised by an estradiol level that is also

slightly out of range.

Good luck with the arimidex.

Brad, I've been on Arimidex since Aug 2001 and BCBS has covered it without

question.

Yes, I know. I don't know how you read the remark. My intention was

to speculate that the financial impact of covering arimidex for men

was sufficiently small in the aggregate that BCBS has not yet

considered a policy to routinely deny coverage. Given the gamemanship

and otherwise tightwad atmosphere I suppose anything is possible.

I think getting the correct dosing regimin on Arimidex is pretty

important. I have been told that a small amount daily is the best

way to go (1/4 - 1/2 per day). Curious how 1 mg 3 times a week would

work. Keep us updated please.

When I took 1 mg daily for 30 days straight my E2 was still in the

high 50s. Works for most though it would seem. My problem seems to

be an over abundance of Aromatase which could be from my high levels

of DHEA. Both High T as well as High DHEA can cause aromatization.

T to E2, DHEA/DHEA-S to E1 (Estrone).

Femera works for me but I think I am going to try lower dosages of

Aromasin.

armyguy4001,

I started out on 1 mg/dy, after two months Es were down and then I began

experimenting with dosage.

Began 1 mg/dy Arimidex

9-29-01........................37...............................85

Began 1 mg Arimidex eod

11-2-01........................59...............................101

Resumed 1 mg Arimidex/dy

Began Basic (7%) ChryDim Gel....Oct 16th '00

Began Super (10%) ChryDim Gel....Dec 25th'00

I began Arimidex on Aug 2nd '01 - I also began 10 gm AndroGel/dy then. I

think that most of my T > E conversion came from high free T when I was

Injecting 100 mg Depo/wk

Blood collected 8th day after last injection of 100 mg Depo-Testosterone

Some of my recent lab results:

June 20th '03

Serum T 656

%FWBT 39.2

FWBT 257.1

Estradiol 41

Estrogens 53

Sex hormone

Binding globulin 36 (13 - 71

DHEA 285 men 60 - 69 (82-338)

T/E2 ratio = 16 (10 - 22)

Aug 15th '03

Testosterone 809

%FWBT 38

FWBT 307.4

Estradiol 28

DHEA 275 Males: 60 - 69 yrs 83 - 338

T/E2 ratio 809/28 = 28.

I no longer have estrogens measured as IMO estradiol is the most important

and gives me the number to calculate T/E2 ratio.

Just my experiences...
