I don't think it is a good idea to do Androgel 2 days on and one off you need a

constant amount of T in your blood stream, This is the second time I have heard

about Dr.'s or men doing this.

Here is a cut and paste from Flaco how was doing someting like this. You would

do better to cut the dose that you use everyday.

When I got my E2 this low and I was to low my levels shot up but after a time I

went from 1020 to 590 on the same dose of T it takes time for your body to

adjust to changes. If you gave blood would this not take care of the high

lipids I am not sure about lipids but this may take care of it.

I would start on 50 mgs. of Zinc with 2 mgs. of copper.

Phil

I finnally got my results.

From November, 2001 (I was 43 years old, almost 44), you can call this

one my " baseline " :

FSH 4.0 MIU/mL (1.4 to 18.1)

LH 4.9 MIU/mL (3.1 to 34.6)

Prolactin 7.5 ng/mL (2.1 to 17.7)

Testosterone 257 ng/dL (350 to 890)

Free T 45.8 pg/mL (47.0 to 244.0)

% Free T 1.8 (1.6 ti 2.9)

SHBG 30 nmol/L (13 to 71)

Treatment ordered by my doctor: Androgel 5 gm a day. Nothing else. I

would appreciate some feedback on this.

You may not remember, but I was using the Androgel about 3 times a

week because I was having uncontrollable erections. Then this year,

my system collapsed. I went into an incredible depression. Lucky me

I ran into Phil in one of the boards in WebMD and he advised me to

start using the drug daily as originally prescribed. That in addition

to some other recommendations.

Twelve days after I started using the drug daily I had more lab work

done (September of this year). These are the numbers:

Prolactin 3.8 ng/mL (2.1 to 17.7)

FSH 2.8 MIU/mL (1.4 to 18.1)

LH 1.4 MIU/mL (1.5 TO 9.3)

E2 24.8 pg/mL (0 to 52)

SHBG 37 nmol/L (13 to 71)

Total T 694 ng/dL (241 to 827)

Free T 11.2 pg/mL (6.2 to 28.1)

% Free T 0.2 (0.1 to 1.2)

At the time of this test, I was feeling better, but " not there " yet.

Now, after about 5 weeks, I am doing much, much better.

Any comments are welcome.

About a month ago I posted that my E2 had bottomed out and my

libido with it. The Dr. took me off Arimidex for a week, then to 1/2

a pill every other day. I just had my bloodwork done, and T is now

at 950 with E2 at 30. The doc says the ratio is still too high, and

wants me to lower my T more (I was 207 when diagnosed. Started with

shots then moved to Androgel). The plan for T now is one packet

applied for two days, then a day off, and so on.

Libido is still down more than I'd like it. The doc wants me to

keep my T in the center range because I have high lipids, and

apparently lots of T isn't good for this condition.

From reading other posts, I am going to start taking zinc. If

anyone can recommend a good starting dosage, or other alternatives,

I'd love to hear them.

If I were going to do this, I would do 2/3 packet per day.

It's very difficult to predict the effect of T on your lipids.

There is a paragraph or so here:

http://merck.micromedex.com/index.asp?page=bpm_report & article_id=CPM02EN318 & sect\

ion=report & ss=5

Also see page 10 of the AACE clinical guidelines.

There is another extended discussion on this subject. I encourage you

to read it.

Hi chroma,

Lay opinion:

Phil & Brad are right: lower dose every day rather than skipping a

day.

Reducing T dosage can be expected to also lower E2.

If I was doing this, I would consider reducing Arimidex to 1/4 pill

every other day. Especially considering your libido should be

higher.

If you add zinc, you'll probably need less Arimidex. I'd hold off on

zinc for now, rather than changing too many things at once. At

such time as you do add zinc, Shippen recommends 100mg/day

for 2 weeks (or until you see results), then drop to 50mg/day.

Most here recommend taking some copper with the zinc for best

results. I'm now taking 50mg + 15mg zinc from my multivitamin,

but haven't added addl. copper beyond 2mg/day from

multivitamin.

Best,

Bruce

Thanks everyone for the info.

I was really in a funk with the libido drop. It's still a little

down, but with the Arimidex dosage lower seems to be improving slowly.

Based on the info provided, I will stay with one packet of Androgel a

day, half an Arimidex every other day, and work in the zinc and

copper over time.

Thanks again for the help.

Hi,

There is a possibility you are wanting your initial erection benefit

to testosterone therapy to continue.

When you start TRT, the erection performance goes up in a few weeks

and will stay fantastic as long as the level is going up in the body.

When the level stabilizes or levels off, the ED problem you may have

had before, returns.

Man was I ever steamed when the doctor told me it was not a cure for

ED. I did enjoy the benefits of higher testosterone levels with better

mental gymnastics, sense of well being, more interest in sex and more

stamina.

I kept reading and found " The Potent Male " by Dr. Irwin Goldstein.

Traveled to Boston and began trimix injection therapy. It gave me very

good reliable results 10 years ago and still works very well.

Hi,

I should have said more.

The level of T is not that far out of what a teen range might be and

should not damage you.

If you are having the same ED problems you had before, it is not

justification for reducing the T level in my mind.

Sorry to say, IMHO ED therapy is really something outside of TRT in

most cases.

Even at this dose my E2 dropped too low. I'm now experimenting with

1/4 tablet every 4 days. But I don't think its working. I'm going in

for an E2 test on Mon. and then changing to 1/4 tablet every three

days.

(BTW Arimidex has a half life of about 48 hours.)

May return. For others it doesn't.

Hi Retro I just get back my last E2 test taking arimidex .25 every 5 days and I

was 21.1 2 days after taking the pill. I am thinking about trying DIM again but

this time the one Z uses.

http://www.ritecare.com/prodsheets/PHY-15336.html

I think he said it lasts him for 6 months.
