Guest guest
I'm a proponent of salivary testing and I believe it's pretty darn accurate. I had a 24 salivary test prescribed where I tested myself every 4 hours for various hormones including T. The great thing about salivary testing is that it measures the " free " levels of the hormones. With my test, I discovered I am substantially below normal range and flatline on the free T whereas the normal person should have a peak and a valley through out the course of a normal day. Up to this point, the various docs had only given me blood tests for total T and because it fell in the normal range on the blood tests, T was not suspect. After the salivary test, my doc had me tested for free T and wala, it was very low. Same as the salivary test showed. Others will argue about the salivary test but I am sold hook line and sinker that this test is useful and worth the expense. Mine was through Endoscreen Research @ 760-448-2750. Guest guest
try going to www.salivatest.com and read about why they believe that saliva tests are superior to blood work however, my knowledgable pharmacist says that if you are injecting T then blood test is better, if you are spreading on skin T then he says saliva tes is better, not sure why the nice thing about the web site above is no doc prescript is necessary, request the appropriate saliva kit they send it to you and follow instructions and send it back , results direct to you also you can call them and discuss any tests norton
Guest guest
The ranges on the salivary testing are substantially different than the bloodwork ranges. You cant compare a reading from salivary and match it to blood or vice versa, but you can compare where your readings stand compared to the normal ranges given for each test. For example; my salivary test showed low testosterone and my blood test showed normal total testosterone. BUT..... when I tested blood for " free testosterone " , my blood test nearly the same percentage of being out of range as the salivary test did. In my opinion, the best thing about the salivary test was the 6x 24hr ability to test which gave me a way to average my readings as opposed to a one time blood draw which may have caught me at a peak or valley. > > > > > > Hey everyone - > > > > > > I have been reading things on the web that say that serum blood > >tests for > > > hormones is not a good way to test and could result in > >overdosing.
