From the prescribing info for AG

Brad

During exogenous administration of androgens, endogenous testosterone

release may be inhibited through feedback inhibition of pituitary

luteinizing hormone (LH). At large doses of exogenous androgens,

spermatogenesis may also be suppressed through feedback inhibition of

pituitary follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).

I think eventually, the answer is yes, your sperm count will go down

on any form of TRT. Did you try HCG as part of your fertility

procedures? HCG raised my sperm count significantly and will also

raise your testosterone level...

Armyguy,

No, I haven't tried HCG. I'm not sure if it is the same HCG, but my

wife has been given HCG to enduce ovulation for the past few months.

Would this be the same? Is it administered via a shot?

thanks

Yep, that is the same stuff. I posted a description of HCG yesterday

with the application for both sexes. It can be adminstered through

Subqutaneous or Intermuscular injections. The manufacturers

recommend IM injects, but there are plenty of studies showing that

SubQ is just as efficacious (and certainly easier!).

Yes, it is the same stuff. The dosing is the biggest difference

between what a woman would take and what a man would take. A man

would take between 250 - 500 iu three times a week injected sub q.

Whereas, I believe a woman gets the whole bottle injected at one

time intra muscular. Anyway, you should definitely consider this

treatment!!! There is a decent chance you will be able to

significantly raise your sperm count and you will also raise your t

level at the same time, as long as your testicles are still capable

of producing the good stuff. Androgel will definitely have the

opposite effect, lower sperm count and shut off natural testosterone

production.

Your doctor is woefully ignorant if he told you that AG wouldn't

affect your sperm count! If you were taking AG while trying to get

pregnant, that's like using a preemergent while planting grass seed!

When I was on AG my sperm count went to zero, nada, zilch... then

when I switched to HCG it went up to 80mil. I wasn't happy with this,

though, since my endo seemed to be focusing on fertility and not HRT,

when I didn't even have a GF and wasn't looking to be a daddy again.

I'm sorry if this was the last month and you're just finding this

out. Perhaps it's not too late.

Jim, Thanks for the heads up. The reason this was the last month was

because my wife and I decided due to really bad endromitriosis (sp)

so its not a huge deal.

80 million is serious count!! Did your T levels also go up? Did you

feel as good? How long did your endo say you had to be on HCG?

Thanks for the feedback.

On HCG my T levels went up to low/mid range (around 400 on a scale of

300-1000). But me E was also high and I just didn't feel much effect.

Somehow my endo kept thinking that I was interested in fertility - I

wasn't. I convinced him to take me off of AG and put me on HCG

because I'd heard so much good about it, but he had me on a lower

dosage than is recommended if you're taking HCG alone. So, about the

time he was giving me hi-fives for raising my sperm count, I was

looking into the online HRT specialist, and switched shortly

thereafter. The new protocol I'm on includes T injections of 80iu,

HCG the day before and day after of 250cc, and 1/4 Arimidex pill

every third day to control the E. I've only started this new protocol

yesterday, so it's too soon to say how I'll respond.

Good luck! Sorry to hear about the endometriosis, slowrunneront.
