Hi,

Not sure where he looked but usually the medical journals are

available in the college libraries. Never tried since the internet

happened to see if I could reach medical journals.

The work that has been done is by others, is rarely researched by

other doctors unless they attend formal medical courses as a specialty

in endocrinology. Dr. Greenblatt taught for decades in Medical College

of Georgia, Augusta, Georgia. I would expect very few doctors

providing TRT have formal training and would not recognize Dr.

Greenblatt as a noted authority in this field.

I wonder if he would find Dr. Greenblatt (now decease) or Dr. Gambrell

acceptable as an authority.

You are right, you can not react to the doctors feelings about Dr.

Shippen.

both a medical search and a Google search.

Hi,

I just went into GOOGLE and used the following and got 195 hits:

" Dr. Eugene Shippen "

I'd say he is getting lots of attention by GOOGLE. Did not do any

checking to see what publcations he may be involved with.

I have heard the same argument from an endo. It seems that Dr.

Shippen is more interested in the practical application of hormone

therapy than in the academic studies/papers that these doctor's are

looking for. Therefore, they discount everything that he has to say.

That is unfortunate, because they are completely wrong to do so. We

here (and those of us who got better and stopped posting here (lots

of guys!)), are all proof of that.

TRL,

Personally I'm still angry as hell about how my last two endos

didn't know how to treat hypogonadism, which incompetence

seems to be the rule.

Dr. Shippen (an endocrinologist) is a good source because his

treatment provides good clinical results. His expertise comes

from having had poor results with standard treatment, asking

himself why, doing the research, then using what he learned to

get good results.

IMO, if you get satisfactory treatment for hypogonadism it will

include methods similar to Dr. Shippen's. If your treatment

doesn't include methods similar to Dr. Shippen's, you will not

receive satisfactory results.

If your endocrinologist wants to check him out, he can buy the

book. That your endo doesn't know of Shippen says a lot. If he

dismisses Shippen without reading him, that says all you need

to know.

The best measure of your own endo's competence is the

number of hypogonadal men he has treated with excellent

long-term results, without relapse. If he doesn't have any, don't

think you'll be his first.

Good luck,

Bruce
