Guest guest
Thanks Phil, My total testosterone was 320 when my doctor decided to start me on Androgel. I had been on Celexa 20mg daily for about 3 years. No E2 level was drawn. My total T went down to 300 after one month on Androgel 5mg. After reading your response, I am thinking that I may not have had hypogonadism at all, but merely a side effect of my antidepressant. Maybe T replacement isn't really indicated. I hope that agreeing to the depo testosterone isn't going to create more problems. I do appreciate the information, and guess that I will wait and see what the one month follow-up levels indicate. Guest guest
Phil, Thanks much. I have learned a lot, and have used some feedback from members in my discussions with my doctor. He was very open to the idea of adding Armidex if necessary. The one thing that I realized later that he misunderstood, was when I asked him about using HCG. He thought that I meant HGH, and told me that it would be a radical treatment as there is not enough research on it. I realized the misunderstanding later after replaying our conversation in my head. I'm not concerned about the possibility of sterility. I have no children and have no intentions on having children, especially at my age LOL. If I can improve my quality of life, having no sperm is a small price. I was actually more concerned about testicular atrophy. Guess I'm being vain. Well, this group have been an incredible source of information. I really am hoping that hypogonadism is the finally an explanation for long-term depression. But if it's not, I don't want to take hormones that I don't need. I'll keep everyone posted on here, and want to thank all of you guys who have given me feedback and information. Guest guest
I don't know too much about the effects of anti depresants on t levels, so not sure if that is part of the problem. But, going to 200 mg once every 3 weeks, is not a good trade off. That is FAR too long between injections. 100mg once a week is much more reasonable, and a better trade off. Getting your blood checked at the end of 1 month, just checks your levels one week after an injection. To see just how bad things can get, if you follow this regime, get your blood checked at the end of the third week, just prior to an injection. Expect a low result, especially in about the 6th week when your natural production will be sitting at about zero. The gist of it is, use the androgel at 10 g a day and take arimidex if your estradiol is high. If you go to injections, take at least 100mg per week (make sure your cycle is weekly, NOT once every three weeks), AND take arimidex is your estradiol is high. Testosterone is more likely to aromatize to estrogen and estradiol with injections than with the gel (which means more sore nipples with injections).
