Definitely on the low side. Just high enough that allot of doctor's

will tell you it's all in your head. It's not. (and it's not in your

nuts either unfortunately :)).

Definitely a case of secondary from where I'm standing. I would bet

you would feel allot better with Clomid and/or HCG treatment. Any

reason why it might be low? Did you take finasteride, cortizone

cream, have a visectomy or the like?

Definitely try taking zinc supplements immediately. Low zinc will

prohibit your system from working properly. I thought I was fine for

zinc, but I went to a natureopath and had a test where they get you

to taste something that is supposed to taste very bitter. It did not

taste at all to me which showed that I had very low zinc.

Cheers,

Armyguy

Thanks Armyguy for the quick response,

I really don't know why it is low. However, I think it has been low

for sometime. For a long time I thought (or still think) I was

depressed. SSRI's don't do anything for me, so I really want to try

something else. I will start the Zinc and someone else recommended

DIM to access for free T.

With the overall T number fairly low, I guess I am somewhat limited

as to how much T I can " free " up.

Is there anything else I can do short of TRT? I guess I can try some

clomid and zinc and Dim....

Well, you don't have an estradiol result to evaluate.

Sadly, your concerns that your doc will declare you " ok " on the basis

of results within the reference range may be well founded.

I hate to be tiresomely repetitive but I would suggest undergoing a

clomiphene stim test. I would wait to see what the doc says. Remind

him or her of your symptoms. I would then produce a copy of the AACE

clinical guidlines and ask for the clomiphene stimulation test

described under " Dynamic Tests " on page 5 if the doc is dismissive of

the possibility of hypo. Not mentioned in the discussion is the fact

that your testosterone should also rise. This test will give some

insight into how well your hypothalamus and pituitary function under

some stimulation. Assuming you get a significant boost in LH, your

testosterone should rise. If not, primary is suggested. As a bonus,

you will get an idea of how (or if) you respond to clomiphene in case

you are considering that as a treatment.

If they will not attempt a trial with testosterone or will not

administer the clomiphene stim test, I would suggest that you start

doc-shopping.

I am trying to find an age-adjusted chart for free testosterone.

According to most people, Free T is the most important stat as that

is the T your body actually uses. My free T is probably the same as

an 80 year old man (I am 34).

Maybe K4 or Or eon can help but I seem to remember a chart in either

the links secion or the files secion that shows a very nice age-

adjusted chart from an actual study. I just can't seem to find it

any more although I have it printed out. If we no longer have it I

can scan it in and turn it into a PDF for the files section.

In my opionion though, screw age-adjusted anything. You want to

feel good, that's what is important. The age-related thing can be

deceiving as it has been accepted that we men loose much of our T

and Free T as we age, even in our 30's. That say that it is an

acceptable and normal part of aging... Well, so is cancer and heart

desease, but I'll take a rain-check on those. I will always shoot

for youthful levels, regardless of my age. The research is

overwelminly in favor of maintaining a youthful hormonal profile.

This is so accepted for women, and now becoming so for men.

But that's just my opinion.

I agree. I was trying to get the info, so I can convince my Dr. that

I am low in comparision, as the lab ranges are typically for everyone

and are not age adjusted.
