Guest guest Posted March 6, 2004 Report Share Posted March 6, 2004 I am trying to take two 50mg of zinc per day. However, the pill always seems to upset my stomach and gives me a bit of a headache. Any ideas on how to counter this? When should you take zince with a meal? What shouldn't you eat with it? I have been taking mine immediately after eating. " A zinc supplement would probably help, but avoid more than 50 mg a day. Guest guest Posted March 6, 2004 Report Share Posted March 6, 2004 --- I have been taking Zinc suplements for the past several years, as part of my vitamin plan, put together with the aid of expert materials/books. Zinc should be taken at a max of 50mg/day. At 50mg, you are oK, 100 is way too much(besides the 100 you are taking, you get some from eating too), and excess Zinc is toxic. I sugest you stop taking Zinc for a week to detox, then , take 50 mg/day(I do that once a day), or split it in two 25mg morning and night. Zinc is a powerfull antioxidant, you should reap its benefits better if taking also vits: E, C, Beta Carothene(better source of vit A, a precursor to vit A better said, vit A by itself is also toxic in excess, but bete Carothene becomes vit A as the body requests it)...B complex,Chromium piccolinate, salenium, magnesium and calcium. All the extra zinc will exhaust your copper supplies so its recommended to take zinc and copper together in a 15 (zinc) to 1 (copper) ratio. I take a Chelated zinc/copper supplement.
