Guest guest
Barbara, I think it's wonderful that you sought out a holistic practitioner to help you. I'm very interested in what she gave you. When I was first diagnosed I had bad tremors and was put on PTU and Lopressor, which took care of them. But would prefer going the holistic way. How did you find your practitioner? I'm seeing a hynotherapist that once he heard my " story " told me the same thing. I already felt that stress was the reason I got GD. He says it's completely reversible. I believe that also. Good luck! Lynn update on my progress I am so glad I haven't done anything drastic about my hyperT yet. Went to the holistic lady Monday. She won't tell me what she gave me, but I am not having constant tremors and I slept like a log Monday night. She said I need to be patient and that she couldn't fix everything today..a little at a time...and that's ok with me. One symptom disappearing at a time is great. She also told me to back off all the protein...I am eating every 3 hours it seems because I am so ravenous..and I was trying to keep my weight up. She said I was stressing my body even more. She only gives one " remedy " a week..something dissolved in a liquid. When she gets to know me better she will tell me what she has been treating me with. BTW she went through my life history...and told me what I already know about having a life long history of major stress....so stay cool everyone...take care.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Easily schedule meetings and events using the group calendar! -- cal?listname=hyperthyroidism & m=
Guest guest
Hi Barbara, I've been sweating like a pig lately! I stopped taking the vitamin/mineral supplements after the extra magnesium citrate didn't help any, in fact i think it made it worse. I wonder if i might be lacking sodium or something that i'm unaware of, maybe someone has some suggestions on possible supplements just for my Adreanal Adrenalin Rushes? I still plan on seeing a Nephrologist for my Hypertension soon. All the herbs i have been taking are for mostly HyperT and they do calm me a lot. Maybe theres some special herbs for Anti-Adrenalin? Nothing seems to touch my HBP, it's always moderately high. I stay active but still suffer severe insomnia. Please keep me posted on your progress as you seemed to have found some promising relief. I'm curious on the ratio of Hypo to Hyper in our population, anyone know off hand? Hope i'm not dumping on anyone here with all my problems? Wish i was cool,Cire update on my progress >I am so glad I haven't done anything drastic about my hyperT yet. Went >to the holistic lady Monday. Don't know the exact ratio, but hypothyroidism is much more common. I read once that hyperythyroidism affects 1/4 of 1% of people in the U.S. - about 8:1 female to male. Guest guest
as far as heat goes, anxiety attacks, high heartrate, grinding teeth, stress, feeling constantly thirsty, pains in chest, and swelling in neck; I have had complete success with my accupunturist and the chinese herbs she prescribes me. as far as actually lowering my thyroid, it has worked thus far, but i have another blood test coming up soon and i am hoping. so for sure accupunture has diminished my symptoms, but i plan to do more to slow my thyroid ie.. john's supplements and other avenues of therapy. mary margaret
Guest guest
, Glad you're making progress! You're on the right track, just keep experimenting with your dose until you find the right amount. It's all a very individual thing. I noticed some extra hair loss at first but it seemed to stop on its own after a little while. Balls have shrunk quite a bit, but I feel so much better - its worth it. Did you know they make testicular implants that are designed to fit over your real balls and make them look normal again? It's expensive, and it's also surgery, but if it really bothers you it might be worth looking at. Guest guest
, Re your facial hair growth after 10mos on TRT; do you think you have seen new growth or simply an acceleration of the growth of your existing beard? This is one side effect I'm looking forward to, so I'd appreciate your input. Thanks, JD > Hi everybody, > > I wanted to give an update on my progress since I last posted a > couple weeks ago. Guest guest
Hi JD, I definitely have new facial hair growth, with darker, coarser hair that grows faster each day. I used to be able to skip a day shaving and it would hardly be noticeable. Now it's like a 5:00 shadow every day. I'm still hoping for body hair changes, but so far nothing to write home about. in Los Angeles > , > > Re your facial hair growth after 10mos on TRT; do you think you have > seen new growth or simply an acceleration of the growth of your > existing beard? Guest guest
I noticed an increase in hair growth while being on the Androgel. there's been new growth and increased growth everywhere. Not that I was a hairy person before but I feel like I'm turning into a grizzly bear over time. > > Hi everybody, > > > > I wanted to give an update on my progress since I last posted a > > couple weeks ago. Guest guest
Hi , I am almost 1 year into my new knee. I saw my OS yesterday, had new pictures taken, and he pronounced me a success. Well, I guess so. I hike, play tennis, drive, and generally walk just fine. I can ride a bike. My knee is straight. I still can't bend it as far as my good knee, and it still feels as if I have an Ace bandage on it. I can't pull my heel to my butt. So what is right for being healed? I certainly don't know. I think we are all different. I just wish I was one of the lucky one's who feel nothing. All the best, Joan ________________________________ From: musician12858 <musician12858@...> Joint Replacement Sent: Fri, October 15, 2010 3:58:15 PM Subject: Update on my progress Hey All, I was supposed to see my surgeon last week, but he had to cancel, so I saw him today. I had bilateral knee replacements 12 weeks ago. I have been going to PT 3 times a week for 2 1/2 hours each visit. I have very little pain in my knees, although I do have a weird stiffness in my left knee that I mainly feel when going down stairs. However, my left knee is also my best as far as range of motion. I am at about 3 to 120 degrees with that knee. My right knee is at about 5 to 105 degrees. We have no idea why there would be such a disparity. I have done exactly the same exercises. He said he wished that he could just force the knee to bend more and break the probable adhesions. So he is recommending that I go to PT just once a week for about a month and continue with my exercise bike, etc. at home. Not sure if I will ever get more ROM on my right knee. Any thoughts? in PA Bilateral TKR - 7/22/2010 Left THR - 7/2007
Guest guest
Hmmm. Well, it is probably hard to really compare one hip replacement with two knees. The knees were much more daunting at first since I did not have a good leg to stand on. I have to say all of the hip precautions were a pain though, too. I will still need to get my other hip done at some point. And unfortunately, even though my left hip is all healed, it is always achey and tired when I walk a lot. In fact, it makes me limp almost more than my new knees at this point! > > my thoughts are that you are one lucky lady to be at this point in your > recovery...... > In your opinion is it harder to do knees or hips?
